My neighbor has dogs that wander over here often but they've never hurt anything so I leave them alone. I know all of my neighbors' dogs and cats so I know when there's a stray or someone's dog is loose.
As far as dogs go, I always try to figure out whose dog they are unless they're a threat. I know things happen and the dog can get loose from the yard or house and go wandering. No biggie. I'll usually try to call it toward me and then I'll send a picture to the mail lady who can tell me who it belongs to most of the time. If she doesn't, I take it in to the humane society and they often find the owner or put it up for adoption.
If I see the same dog twice after attempting the above, I'd call the humane officer and file a complaint. I don't like to kill something if I don't have to. It's not the dog's fault that the owner is irresponsible.
If I have a dog that is aggressive toward my animals or me, SSS. Or if it happens to get in the pasture and goes after the animals, my donkey will kill it.
