When do y'all wean and geld your mini colts?

My seven month old is trying to breed his mom

He's old enough to have both done. My minis were weaned @4 months & gelded when both had dropped. As they are smaller than full sized, some didn't drop enough until maybe 6 months. If gelded early, there is little sack when adults. Nice clean look.

Since I raised them, there were times when ages differed as I waited for weather or groups to do the deed. They were not held off for weaning, however.

Yep, he needs own stall.

The vet said they couldn't do till he was a year old though and now they won't call me back

If I wean him, the only other horse to put him with is my mini stud, but I'm afraid they'd fight. Opinions?

None that I trust because they've done some things in the past that put my mini stud's life at risk.

Ask why a year. He must have a reason. I've never had one tell me that. That does not make sense if both testicles have dropped.

they are specialized in horses. Not sure why they said a year
