Congrats on getting your own place in paradise and welcome to the group!
Thanks frustratedearthmother! We do feel like we are in paradise. DH had a great sales territory in LA but came home everyday beat-up from the traffic. He started his career here decades ago and now has a much smaller territory but driving through forested country lanes. It's all about quality of life. We lived in rural Ventura County, left a 5-year drought, followed by fires and floods. We got out just in time but I feel so bad for our friends and one son still there.

B&B Happy Goats, thank you for the welcome! Actually, 3 feral cats have already adopted us. Planning on a dozen layers, meat chickens, a trio of rabbits for raising meat, 1 Nubian doe and 1 Boar doe for dairy and meat (although I am already thinking of keeping their first doelings, hee, hee). We are empty-nesters in our late 60's so don't want to take on too much too soon as I have learned here.
We are in our late 60's also....Got to keep yourself moving to keep on living, animals are a great way to stay active ! I forgot to mention that we also raise meat rabbits and Flemish giant rabbits..... :frow

You are so right! Digging up my first garden on a rocky sloping hillside last year got the thighs working. And before I got my pup last March, I could spend all morning reading this site. Not anymore, out first thing in the am in the rain pitching balls to run off that puppy energy!

I see you got your location added. Now for the picture. I don't know! I added the love of my life, my heart horse's eye so long ago that I don't remember how I did that. :idunno
