Hi, I just bought two 6 day old goats. The tiny one bottle feeds well but the bigger one doesn't have any interest in feeding from the bottle or the milk in a bowl...im worried because she is so young. I am using the small feeding bottles. Help please!

Call the person you bought them from, ask if they have tips.

It is odd that the one is feeding well and the other isn't.

Hello and welcome to BYH ...we use regular baby bottles and make the hole larger in the nipple, hold the goats kid with its head tilted up , kinda shade the face ( like under a udder) and start teasing the mouth while squirting some milk in..it may take a while so be patient but it should get the hang of it shortly.....what are you using for milk ? Some goats don't like the powdered goats formula ....regular whole cows milk works very well for the fussy kids, just pour it in the bottle and bring to temprature.... :highfive:

Thank you. We did make the holes bigger but I haven't tried shading her face. We are using a milk replacement for goats because it's what the people before us used. Is the milk replacer okay for them?

They don't speak English well and all they said was they feed them whenever they cry but I think they were using a longer nipple.

Yes its fine to use the milk replacer, some just don't like it...and that's when whole milk can be used, ...think about the natural position a kid drinks from its mother and try to replicate it till its used to drinking from a bottle...once they are used to the bottle, they will come running when they see you with it... 😍

I think she was just confused by the different nipple but she finally got it and chugged it so fast. I'm just glad she finally got a really good feeding she's too little to miss meals. Does anyone know what kind of breed these look like?

Clearly goats... and cute... Obviously I am not the one to ask... but those ears mean not Nubian.

If they are just poking at it... that is OK,but you don't want them to eat it.

They are pretty smart, just tell them that the shavings taste nasty, then hand them some hay and tell them the hay is yummy.
