Look like one of the Swiss breeds. Not pure Saanen since one is colored, but maybe a mix or just Alpine which come in all colors.

I prefer to bed on straw since sawdust packs and is harder to clean up. Also some milkers about 25 years ago were getting mastitis from being bedded on pine shavings so we stopped using it. If the kids nibble the straw, they won't get sick, and the strea is easier and lighter weight to clean out.

If they are just poking at it... that is OK,but you don't want them to eat it.

They are pretty smart, just tell them that the shavings taste nasty, then hand them some hay and tell them the hay is yummy.

@B&B Happy goats are you telling me you DON'T do over exaggerated baby talk when teaching goats?

"Over Exaggerated Baby Talk" is a recognized language in which to converse with animals and infants! ;) I am sure that somewhere, sometime, an immensely expensive study was done at a university showing the benefits of Over Exaggerated Baby Talk" to both. :caf

I know it immediately reduces Big Bad Bubba to 165 lbs. of slavering Anatolian puppy. 🥴
