Coffee is ready. I kept hitting snooze, finally got up. My granddaughters started school several weeks ago. They go to year around school, but have week long breaks scattered throughout the school year.
That was the norm for us up north... You went back Wed after Labor day (teachers went on Tues to get ready for us).... we had Thanksgiving... wed 1/2 day, back on Monday... Christmas was a week-10 days m/l.... 23rd 1/2 day back Jan 2nd ..... week off in Feb (plus the 2 separate Presidents birthdays)... for Winter break.... and Easter week in April ...mostly... Then we got out anywhere from June 10th to June 30th... according to how many snow days we used...I was having a conversation with someone just the other day.
We were wondering if it was just our limited childhood view of the world, but we were under the impression that EVERYONE back in the 70's & 80's went to school from (roughly) Labor Day to mid June (depending on how many snow days we're used).
????? WHY ?????? Gonna bury something else???I'm going to move a hill and keep digging till I get about 16' down, 40' long by about 10' wide. Time to make a dent in the earth.
That sounds right to me. I got pulled out of school 2 weeks early every year. We followed the cherry harvest from CA to Oregon, WA and finally Montana.I was having a conversation with someone just the other day.

That's a lot of earth to move. Hope you've got big equipment.I'm going to move a hill and keep digging till I get about 16' down, 40' long by about 10' wide. Time to make a dent in the earth.
Raised in Connecticut, same thing. But when we moved to SC in the late 1980s our children started school in late August, were out by late May. Supposedly it was like that due to children traditionally helping on the family farms.I was having a conversation with someone just the other day.
