@fuzzi you're worse than me being a realtor.com junkie!!! :lol: :)
A friend of mine calls it House P0rn!
:gig

Ron and I planned to relocate to WV or Kentucky after we retired. I got used to looking and dreaming. But the house is paid for, and I invested in a roof, etc. Unless I get a message from God to the contrary I'm staying put.

If I got the amount of land I wanted within commute distance of petrochem corridor, it would be over 2 million with a house.

I'm going to settle for 6-10acres and have a hay budget.

YOUCH -- you'd think that was California,,, but worse :duc

Lots of people have moved and are moving to Texas. I have neighbors from Switzerland! Mother/daughter, the mom became a US citizen, daughter is on a visa, they will figure it out. The mom says with an European accent, “I LOVE TEXAS!”

Those are ginormous houses. You would be so busy cleaning them and they would cost so much to paint and carpet/floor that you would have no time or money for your sheep! I am glad we downsized from our California house (and we downsized by 1000' when we moved to the Maude house!) This house in Yantis is perfect for us.

Bigger houses have higher taxes, and utilities, too.

Well I am back on after another whirlwind of nothing in particular. I have not been feeling well, have been very weak, tired, and having lots of pain in my joints. I decided to start taking Vitamin D again and it seems to be working. The joint pain has lessened in just a couple days and I am hopeful I will be back on track soon.

DS1 and DH set up the sorting chute and we ran the ewes to be bred through. They all got a dose of Bo-Se, CDT, and Cydectin wormer. We retagged a couple but got to the last 2 ewes and OOPS! one had a scrapie tag CART10183. Looked through my book and no ewe with that number. Obviously a retag that was not wrtten down. The final ewe had also lost her tag. She had half a scrapie tag which read CART1. Oh goody! Those are the first letters of our California number. The last half of the tag was missing where the ID number would have been.
:barnie We paint marked those 2 and turned everyone back out. I went in and went through my registrations again. Nope! No 183. However, I narrowed it down to a couple possibles. DS1 said she was probably a retag from before we ordered the blank yellow tags to write the scrapie numbers on when retagging. I went and ulled more paperwork with tag numbers but no joy. Then I remembered that we had written down all the scrapie tag numbers and ear tag numbers on the transport docs as the ewes went through the chute for the vet. The transport papers had to match the ear tags on the animal. I pulled the docs out and found CART10182. Yes! Obviously a retag and 183 should be right after her. Found her! :weee That leaves the "no identifiable tags" ewe to identify. No idea who she is yet but DS1 said we will run them all through the chute again and check them off one by one with the list of who is in that field. While in the chute we will retag CART10183, and the poor naked ewe. Then we will vax and worm the remaining ram, harness him and turn him in with the ewes. We only had "hot" and "cold" temp crayons and our temps have been in the "mild" range so DS1 ordered "mild" temp crayons. We were waiting for the order of crayons to arrive to turn the ram in but they never arrived so he called today and they reshipped the order. 2 of my vaccinated ewes have abscesses. We segregated the one with a larger abscess. The other ewe's is smaller and not close enough to lance. The segregated ew eis one of the sweet ones, very friendly, eats out of your hand, etc. She will probably hate me after I take care of the abscess.

We are down to one ram. I located the Missouri breeder with White Dorpers that are parasite resistant. He has 5 yearlings that have a type 5 rating. (That is the highest # for type and conformation.) We will be going to pick one up in a couple weeks. I won't mention the price. :hit I am hoping that we get a couple nice ram lambs out of Junior to hang on to for replacement rams. I hate having less than 4 stud rams for just this reason.

DS1's friend Leen came out for 3 days. He came to pick up the van he bought here in Texas. It was originally a handicap van that had some special stuff he wanted. He had located it and sent DS1 and DH to go pick it up for him. Leen ordered a portable freezer for it. He put new tires on it, got it detailed, and he and DS1 spent a day picking up the freezer and hooking it up in the van. It was to be his "Meat Wagon" for his 4 week hunting trip to 4 or 5 states with some hunting buddies. He was going to pick up his girlfriend and they were going to meet up with the hunting friends.

While he was here he decided to see if he could get a deer on our property. Hunting season opened a few days ago and deer routinely cross the hayfield. There are no buildings around and Leen said he has this special ammunition that peters out after 200 yards. He walked out into the hay field and located a deer trail and found a good place to sit and wait for the deer. He went out 2 mornings in a row at 4 am and said it was so bright out from the full moon that the deer didn't come out. He will be back in 2 weeks and said it should be dark enough then that he could get one. I told him to go sit out all night and shoot hogs but he preferred to sleep.

Leen left last night around 11 pm. At 2 am DS1 got a call from him that while approaching Little Rock the van hit a bump in the road. The van tipped forward and the entire transmission fell out of the car into the road! DS1 was going to go pick him up since Leen was stranded in the middle of nowhere but Leen called back and said there was a motel a mile down the road and he would walk there. Luckily, he had packed his clothes in his hard rifle case with his rifle so he hiked to the motel with his case and backpack. He was able to rent a car in Little Rock and called DS1 to go measure the freezer to see if it would fit in the back of an Explorer. It would and he was going back today to pick it up from the transmissionless van with the 4 new tires on the side of the road. Tonight he called DS1 with an update on his trip. His girlfriend had put her back out and couldn't make the trip. :( Then he told DS1 the sun roof in his rental car had malfunctioned. It was open and would not close. He ws still on the road and it was raining heavily. I think Leen is actually a Ridgetop son. :lol::lol::lol: This may become the hunting trip from hell. I hope not since he was really looking forward to it.

Ozel is in season! :lol: She will be 3 in December and this is the first time we have caught her in season. I called Erick and @Baymule and we all celebrated. She will be bred to Buford. Erick told me to take her to the vet and get a progesterone test to see when she will be breedable since it is a long way to Baymule's. Ovulation occurs around 10.0. She was just coming in - first test was .3, 4 days later she was .6, Thursday she was 1.2. We will take her tomorrow and see how she is progressing. Tuesday we play dupicate and Wednesday DH gets his stitches (cancer) out so hopefully she will go slowly. Unfortunately as they get closer they can jump quickly to the 10.0 mark. If worst comes to worst I will take her to Bay's while DH goes to get his stitches out. Hopefully she will reach 10.0 on Thursday, we will drive down and the 2 dogs will love each other and immediately tie. We should be so lucky. :gig:gig:gig:gig If we are lucky puppies are in our future. She has her CHIC number and I wormed her yesterday so she is ready to go. Unfortunately, you never know if the dogs will like each other. If Buford is not impressed by Ozel he will ignore her. If Ozel decided she does not like Buford she could attack him. The pleasures of animal breeding are endless.

Leen has a breeding date for his red Lab. Monty is a terrific hunting dog and the bitch is also fantastic, both in type, ability and pedigree. Leen is looking forward to getting a puppy out of Monty. He says Monty is his best hunting dog of all he has had and trained. He had a small problem when having his OFA done. The vet said the xrays showed evidence of inflamation in his elbows. Leen went in and talked to the vet who asked him about whether the dog had been exercising a lot before the xray. Leen told him that Monty had been hunting for the past 8 days, all day long. The vet started laughing and said they needed to retake the xrays. The next set came back fine and the vet said the previous inflamation was from over exertion in the field just before taking them. All the puppies in the prospective litter are spoken for already.

I am so excited over the possible Ozel and Buford breeding. Dog marriage, should we have a ceremony? :love I've been talking to Buford, telling him that he is about to meet a beautiful lady, fall in love, have amazing sex, and be a Daddy. He asked about puppy support and I told him the puppies will go to other homes and the new owners will be responsible for their support. He heaved a sigh of relief, he was worried about having to share his dog food topped with chicken and broth. He is not selfish, he was just worried about feeding so many puppies. No, it's welfare for puppy baby mommas. He gets to have all the fun and none of the responsibilities. Buford is totally on board with that and asked how many puppy baby mommas he could have. I answered as many as I can find for you and he smiled.
