I'm really not upset.

Caleb is being very needy this morning, leaning on my legs, wanting petting. I don't want to spoil him, I'm looking for the balance.

Caleb is being very needy this morning, leaning on my legs, wanting petting. I don't want to spoil him, I'm looking for the balance.

There's a difference between spoiling and loving. I'd give him all of the love he needs, I think he's had a rough life. He'll become more assured and it will balance out.

You've had lots of experience living with extraordinary dogs. Trust your gut. And remember that dogs are remarkably forgiving. You will figure it out together.

I took my shower, got dressed for bed, walked into the darkened bedroom. I heard a thump-thumpity-thump but no whine. I walked over to the crate and put my fingers against the grate.

All is quiet, good night.

I was babysitting my DD's dogs and one of them howled, barked and did his best to make sure I wasn't sleeping. I said HUSH, then beat the crate with a rolled up magazine. Every time I smacked the crate, I said HUSH. Next night, HUSH, then silence.

Update: my cat Debbie has started sleeping on the bed again.

When we get a new pup they sleep in the crate. I learned from one of my older dogs to lay down next to the crate and stick my fingers in - worked like a charm. Then we'd graduate to putting my robe over the crate.
