Elk Grove Milling Goat Feed

I asked this question in one of my other posts, but it's kinda long and in another thread, so I'm moving it here.

Does anyone know if the goat ration from Elk Grove is a good feed option? It has grain screenings, which seems iffy, but if it's a quality ration, it's really affordable.

It looks like they are going for a tmr approach to their food rather than a traditional pasture+hay+grain approach. I'm not sure I'd recommend that food and it's not the approach most of us use for things beyond things like rabbits. You should try it and let us know.

That being said, I'd very much hesitate to follow their directions entirely and personally I'd still offer hay either way.

It's marketed as a pretty high end "complete" feed but we've questioned a lot of things over the years. Like using brewery left overs and grain screenings. They love to use that specific vitamin pack product in all their stuff too. We stopped using their feeds due to it being priced very high for the quantity needed to feed and the leftovers we feel shouldn't be in them if marketed as a high end complete feed. Just our personal opinion. Probably not a lot different than most other standard complete feeds though.

So it isn't as affordable as it seems at first glance? Typical. I think I'll just stick with alfalfa/timothy pellets and hay.

It's pricey but it is technically an all in one. We used to use it for convenience but it was quite expensive to feed it in the quantities needed. We went back to hay, grain and supplements as needed. Definitely cheaper but more work. However it's easier to adjust as needed vs a standard ration.
