We were retiring and decided to “buy the farm” and move north to Maine from CT. My family all came from here and it felt right to move back to my roots. Just a side note - it’s said NOBODY retires and moves NORTH. Well we like to be different
We’re just newbie farmers learning and adding as we go and grow in knowledge.
We started with 24 chicks, two and a half year later we have a very varied flock of 95! Yes chicken math . The past 2 springs we have hatched our own chicks with eggs from our flock and also eggs purchased from other farms to bring new genetics into the flock. We love our flock and now have 4 coops and a “Mantown” in the barn for some very handsome roosters who will be breeding to select gals this spring.
Shortly after the purchase of 24 chicks, we added Ducks . 2 Ducks to be exact and YES there’s also Duck math. We now have 14 ducks and have made them a pond and a Duck Palace to live in fully fenced for protection from predators.
Then came the GOATS. Our three little ND girls. I’m in love and I see goat math in our future
