The bottle lamb is getting very little attention and doesn't demand much. Of course that isn't true but she is doing great and has actually one of the best bottle lambs that we have had. She likes to sit on my lap but isn't demanding, She will stand at my feet patiently waiting since she seems...
We did a lot of dirt work on a hill next to our neighbors to stop some bad erosion and finished it with grass seed and straw netting to keep it under cover. We really didn't expect it to do much since there was still the chance of more winter temps but after checking it today, it was all sprouting.
We never really had any storms but we went from a no wind situation to winds that were probably above 50-60 knots for about 5 or 6 minutes. I'm guessing that was a tornado but there was nothing on the news. It came in so quickly that trees could have easily come down. Other than that we had...
We put netting around our lawn area so we could put the sheep closer to the house and let them take care of "cutting" the grass and put them closer to the house. We put the bottle lamb in with the flock for most of the afternoon and give her a chance to learn some sheep behavior. :)
She did...
That has always made it beautiful for me. :)
Penny is making some good gains and we think she is back to where she should be. She is now really totally spoiled but as always, I enjoy every minute of it.
She has only been inside for a couple of hours and she is already spoiled. Her coat is the color of an old penny so her name was an easy pick. Introducing Penny
The ewe completely rejected the lamb. Our initial plan was to leave the lamb in the stall but it quickly became obvious that she was likely going to do serious harm to the lamb. We tried putting the lamb with our sweet ewe Babs that had adopted others but the lamb had already decided that she...
We finally got our last lambs born yesterday. The ewe had beautiful solid brown twin ewes but there somehow wound up being a problem as one of the lambs got seperated. We went out this morning and one of the lambs was nowehrere in sight so we went looking. Teresa found her quite a way out in...
We have thought about getting more dogs but we probably will not. We got Maisy when we first got sheep but if we had it to do over again we probably would not have. We haven't had any losses up to this point and with my health condition, if we had losses the sheep would probably have to go...
I have had enough heart breaking news this year. Maisy is handling her bone cancer on meds and doesn't appear to be distressed much more considering. Mel has had some problems with his hips so we took him in to the vet to confirm what I already had guessed. He doesn't have any cancer but has...
Ginger isn't out of the woods yet but she is improving. She still isn't interested in her food but we are supplementing some alfalfa powder in her nutri drench and that is helping get her stomach back to normal.
