Well... I wasn't fond of the dog.. spouse's dog, but kids and I did all of the work... which is annoying..

But, still... it is a bit sad... and most definitely odd, to now be dog-less.

The dog has been slowly circling the drain for the last couple of years. Eating ok, but slowly losing weight, going blind and deaf and a bit demented. He would at times get confused as to where he was... that kind of thing. And incontinent!

He was moving slowly, but didn't look to be in too much pain... didn't whine when he moved....

When we let him out to potty, he would go out the front door, circle the house and come in the back door.

Anyway... Tuesday the dog didn't come back. We have been looking and looking... can't find him!

My guess is he wandered off to die, but then where is the body??? And just how far can a gimpy old dog walk?

It has been over 6 months since he has done more than wander a tiny bit in the parking lot, and circle the house. He hasn't gone any further in over 6 months!

So... we have looked and looked... went to all the neighbor houses... the houses he hasn't gone to in maybe 2 years.... but no dog!

He is maybe 60 pounds? Big enough that we should see him. The snow is gone, no leaves up yet.....

Just... :barnie
I'm sorry...I am dog-less, too.

My sympathies... just lost one of my cats to the road and ridiculous fast traffic.... at least I know what happened...
I think the dog went off to hide and pass on... they seem to often do that... what happened to him ???? Sorry for the loss for the family regardless.
He was just old... so it isn't unexpected... So yes, I am sure he walked off to die...

It is just ODD that we can't find him. He is too big for anything to want to drag him off... and he was too gimpy to walk far.

So... why do we not see his body anywhere??? :idunno

Well.... blast it all.... so far nothing has hatched....

And all moms are uninterested in me grabbing eggs to candle....

And last night, about 5am I heard the geese yelling... I got up and looked, a bald eagle was standing on the roof of their coop looking at them through the wire!!

And then daughter-in-law texted me saying that she has seen bear scat close to the house.

:rant :barnie:barnie

Also... I spent so much on taxes that I did NOT buy a new car..... which means when son and daughter-in-law had to drive up to Anchorage yesterday (his junker had been taken to the junk yard last week) I let him drive my car up....

They will be back Friday ...

That means I am driving the Jeep!! :rant:rant 1997 I think, Jeep Cherokee. And IT. IS. CRAP. OOops... time has marched... I have to get in it now and drive it to town.

Well..... :tongue

I was all "there MUST be ducklings now"!!! And we gently poked at the 3 muscovy sharing a nest... they got off ONLY ONE EGG THAT EXPLODED.

Yeah... death bomb smell..

And where did all the other eggs go? Muscovy don't usually eat eggs.... they have been sitting TIGHT, I had no idea the eggs had all vanished.
