Up early. Debbie appreciated my attention to her empty dish, and is now sprawled on the back of my recliner...tough life being a house cat.

I brewed coffee, and it is starting to taste like coffee again, instead of lighter fluid!
:yesss:

A decent probability of rain is forecast for tomorrow, so once the dew dries off the grass I'll probably mow. I also want/need to replant beets and carrots, which sprouted, but then died due to the dry weather. I'm frustrated, as I was too sick to go outside to water them. I also have some pointed head cabbage seeds I want to sow, a new crop for me. If it's going to rain I'd like to get the seeds in, first.
:fl

And bread, I'm out of bread, need to bake. Yum. I can wait to make bread until after church tomorrow.

My heart overfloweth...DS came to me and said he was going to mow the yard!
:celebrate

He blew through the front, north side, other (south) side yard, and the ditch by the road...I told him I was thrilled at how fast he did it, and he mumbled something about me being 65.

I'm tickled.

Let's hope he becomes a repeat offender! 🤣

Peep peep peep 🐥
Love little biddies.
I should ship them to you, the little darlings!
:gig

It's the age/stage, awkward teenagers. They will settle down once they figure out their position in the pecking order. I've tentatively chosen the cockerel I may keep, he's the lowest of the bunch, and the hens will teach him his place.

Rain.
:barnie

Driving the back roads to church this morning I noticed every corn field was not only brown but the stalks looked crispy. Soybean fields usually look good even during drought, but they looked wilted. It's bad.

After church I put both garden hoses on trickle, moving them from shrub, to tree, to annual beds, about 15-20 minutes each. I forgot to move it after 20 minutes from one of the elderberry bushes, so it got a really deep drink.

I decided to not replant the beets and carrots, not until we get some rain.

I caught a HUGE grasshopper, brought it to the Sussex coop, and released it, bwahaha!!! I think Priscilla finally got/kept it. Joanna came over and made query noises, like "Didn't you bring another for me?"

The "chicks" were all on the roost before the adults, they're figuring out how to avoid those bad-tempered (molting) hens, ha!

Cockerel I think I will keep is next to last on the right. He's not as brash as his brothers. Zaccheus was the littlest of his brood, and has worked out well.

They still cheep like babies. I love that sound! 💗
