Yesterday Violet had "lost" her pins, and come nighttime she was isolated from the rest of the herd. We checked her at 12:45 and she was in labor with hooves presenting! At around 1:30am she delivered a small, but healthy bull calf.
She is doing good! Due today, but hasn't really showed any signs that labor will be very soon. She is looking very big and uncomfortable. I hope she calves sooner rather than later for her sake (and mine)! Lol
That's great!! Glad it went well! Do you have pics posted somewhere?
On Tuesday Pitita gave birth to a beautiful little bull calf! It was really hard - he was a true breech.
Her water broke around 11 am; after a few hours of labor and her pushing, I tried to find out what was causing the delay, but I couldn't get hooves out. We got the vet and he got the calf out at around 4 pm.
But the calf is unable to stand. He tries getting up but his front legs aren't working right. I'm milking the cow and bottle feeding/tube feeding him. I don't have any pics up yet, but I'll let you know when I do.
We are very thankful that both are alive, even if he doesn't make it.
