Thank you. I am curious about this as well. I am using a Henry Milker (Hand milk pump) and finishing off by hand.

    Help! I’m Desperate! - MASTITIS 3 Goats & 1 Human!

Thank you for the advice. I cleared myself up pretty quickly, I did not have a fever thankfully. About the Chlorhexidine, is this something I need to apply then wash off with water, or does it stay on? Do you soak your paper towels in it, spray the paper towel, or spray the teat? Thanks.

    Goat pregnancy questions

Her udder does indeed look like it is partially full. Perhaps she was previously milked, and is still drying up. If she is pregnant, however, her time is near based on her udder, I’d say. You can check her “ligaments” a few times a day, search to find a diagram of where to look for those. They...

    Help! I’m Desperate! - MASTITIS 3 Goats & 1 Human!

Please help me out! I’ve only been milking my goats for about 2 months, and I’m having a rough go at it. I must be doing something wrong! Goat#1 : developed a hard mass in one udder overnight. The soft/normal side dropped significantly in production, and on the hard side I could only get a few...

    Help with a Mama goat

It sounds like she has mastitis. If you do not take care of the infection, it can cause a permanent problem that would especially affect her if she has multiple kids next time. It would be best to massage the teat and try to empty her of milk (there may not be much you can get, but massage &...

    Water for pigs

Also I should add that as the pigs grow, we move the metal piping up on the fence to be at the ideal height. We have 2 nipples on one pipe to accommodate our pigs, and we have had 5 at a time with no issue.

    Water for pigs

We have the barrels but it sits outside the fence so the pigs can’t rub up against it. We ran a short hose and attached the nipple to some metal piping and then with heavy duty wire to the fence. They learn it pretty quickly, especially if you don’t offer them another water source. Just sit...

    Milk Production after Mastitis?

What is the best way to maintain supply in a dairy goat after mastitis treatment? A few months ago one of my NDs got mastitis and, though I was able to clear up the infection after a few days, she has not produced more than a few ounces in that side. Would like to have a few tricks up my...

Milk Supply after losing a kid

I have a 3*M ND doe who kidded unexpectedly (previous owner gave me wrong breed date) on Saturday while I was away from home and one of her two kids did not make it. I am relying on her as a big part of my home milking and I want to know how to best maintain her supply between now and the two...

    Outdoor Cat Safety

Agree with this. I had an indoor/outdoor huntress/lapcat who would mostly go from the porch to the chicken coop when outside at night. She did not stray, had full access to safety, lots of love and plenty of food etc. But on that short journey from coop to porch/house, I am certain she was taken...
