    Day 173 and NOTHING

When you said you felt kids moving, were you feeling her right or her left side? If you felt her left side, that was her rumen moving. And if she's just a big girl with no babies, feeling her right side could also be her rumen. Did you get a positive blood test? I'm inclined to say that she's...

    Joey's crooked legs, pics.

If you have the Selenium paste, you can give him a little of that mixed in his bottle.

Fred's Kidding Thread *Update: Graphic Kidding Pictures!

All the dramatics she showed over the weekend....gone! Now she forgot she is pregnant. Walking around, munching on hay, back to her old self. Yesterday, you'd have thought she was dying. This must be why they call it "kidding".

Milked our Nubian/Boer doe for the first time.....newbie questions....

Yeah, frozen is the way to go. Helps keep the temps down and keep the soap a lighter color. It is possible to get white soap using goat milk. It takes patience, lots of stirring, and COLD equipment and milk.

    Worming pregnant doe

Ivermectin and Safeguard are fine. Valbazen is NOT safe. You'll want to worm the day she kids regardless because stress can increase her worm load. Does she need to be wormed, or do you just do it on a schedule?

Milked our Nubian/Boer doe for the first time.....newbie questions....

Making soap for home use is fun. All you really need is some lard, milk, lye and fragrance. When you start trying to sell it to the masses, then it starts to be less fun. I have a hobby soap business that I'm kind of letting go. In order to make market quality soap, you need a lot of up front...

Fred's Kidding Thread *Update: Graphic Kidding Pictures!

Fred's driving me nuts! Last night she was breathing very hard and fast, kept getting up and lying down, and had that far away look in her eyes. I waited and waited and waited, nothing. Woke up early this morning, same deal. She's at day 141 today and I'm hoping she goes today or tomorrow...

    Re-Disbudding Question

I got the 3/8" tip and it did fit over them. I was worried when I saw it, but surprisingly it fit just fine.

    Re-Disbudding Question

That went over much better than I thought. In school I had to do surgeries and castrations, and they went off without a hitch because it wasn't my pet that I was working on. I removed my emotions, and did what appears to be a pretty good job. If she ends up with scurs, I think it's because they...

Must re-home chocolate lab ASAP! Madison, WI

My rotation works quite well since only 2 are crated when I work. The rest are out in their rooms. Once I get home, we switch. They are crated less than most dogs whose owners work a normal 9-5. Having some Pit Bulls, I know exactly where they would end up if I re-homed them....dead in a garbage...

    Re-Disbudding Question

My iron is the x-30 and it'll be here tomorrow. She'll be 4 weeks on Monday. One of the vets wanted me to drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. That was ridiculous for a 30 second procedure. I'm going to do them from now on. Just want to know if it'll be worth anything...

Pics of "I Didn't Know She Was Pregnant" goats!

I see a lot of us posting pics of our goats looking as big as houses before they kid. I was thinking, do any of us have pics of goats that didn't look or show signs of being pregnant, and then kids happened? Kinda like that show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant". I love that show. Seriously, how do...

Fred's Kidding Thread *Update: Graphic Kidding Pictures!

No, I mean, my calendar! I thought I wrote it down on one, but I ended up writing it down on another calendar that I lost. Then I had to go by memory, which is harder than it seems. Memory + Fred's still pregnant state + 145 days = April 19.

Recalculated it correctly this time at 4/19. Next year, I need a better calendar!

    Re-Disbudding Question

Around here there's a shortage of mostly everything, including farmers and vets who know how to disbud a goat kid. I took a doeling to a local farmer who disbuds his goats and agreed to do mine for me. Well, let's just say he didn't do such a great job. His iron was not the x-30 or x-50, but...

Must re-home chocolate lab ASAP! Madison, WI

Crate and rotate works very well in my home. We have 5 dogs, and a strict "no same sex out at the same time" rule. We have 3 males and 2 females. Thankfully the females get along with the males and vice versa. When 2 are out, the others are away in crates or another room. It is not a lot of...
