Well today didn't totally go as planned. We were tearing up the flooring in out bathroom, when my son comes and tells us the freezer that has the bee frames in it was open and it was completely iced up. Sure enough, something must have shifted the last time I was in there and it left a gap. It looked like it snowed in there. Hubs finished the floor removal, but the shower is on hold until tomorrow

Thankfully I was able to remove all of the frames. It hadn't had time to freeze solid except at the very top. Still took quite a while to get it cleaned out. By the time I was finished, I had what looked like a pile of snow on my front lawn and I smelled like buckwheat honey. I'm glad there weren't any buckwheat honey eating zombies around, I might not have survived!
Was the buckwheat honey harmed????
:ep

It was pretty weepy, so some of it was washed away...lol

Some of the frames we put in the freezer still had buckwheat nectar, they weren't capped over enough to harvest. We'll probably feed it back to the bees at some point.

We pulled the white boards this morning to see how many Varroa we killed. 1 on the swarm hive, 4 on the package hive and at least 15 on hive #2. So glad we got one treatment in. Hopefully any left will continue to drop. We'll treat again in January.

Oh wow, I wish I was that artistically creative. I especially love the pieces where she used the organic comb. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing! 😊

Interesting little video that popped up on my feed:
That's what we do. My vaporizer is a little different than that one. We will treat after we're back home. Looks like it won't be in the 50's again until the 26th. Hopefully I can get 2 treatments in. I'm pretty sure we still have brood in our hives. The best time is when there isn't any. January and February should and will hopefully be colder, we'll treat during those months if we get in the 50's again. I hope they make it through winter.
