Christmas was a lot of fun!

Some of the things I got were a cow print bedding set, poultry standard of perfection, a kindle and my 3 favorite photos of animals I took and put onto a canvas so I will hang them up when I move to a room with my sister. And my sister got me a metal sign to hang on my coop.

Do share pictures, if you want to.

I have a chicken print duvet, comforter cover.

Love the sign also.... EXCEPT.... the eggs are upside down. Eggs should be boxed, packed and portrayed with the small side down... that is the proper way to handle them. The air sac is in the top/rounded end... and should not be put into a box with the pointed side up because the air sac will try to "move" towards the top.... and the eggs will not keep as long....
Yes, hens obviously have the eggs laying on their side when they are sitting... BUT... they are rolling them under them frequently... prevents the developing embryo from "sticking" to one side... and the air sac is still on the uphill side so to speak.
There is nothing that frustrates me more than eggs packed upside down in cartons... the smaller "bottom" of the carton is supposed to cradle the smaller end of the egg and keep it more in place... protect the point also... AND keep the air sac up so it will keep longer...

We had our 4-H Christmas party yesterday. First we went to the dollar store and bought gifts for the nursing home and then delivered the gifts then we went to the 4-H building to have our meeting and we did officer elections so I am the vice president this year then we did a gift exchange and then went bowling.

That is such a kind gesture for the nursing home residents.

on our way back home today we took a wrong turn and the road was covered in snow but it didn't look that deep so we tried going through but it was much deeper then we thought and we got stuck me and my brother got out and tried to push the car while my mom was trying to back up and that didn't work so we cut some of the cattails to try to see if they would give the van some traction but that didn't work so we took the floor mats out of the van and put those under the tires and they still weren't getting enough grip and we had some bags of clothes in the van so we took some clothes to see if that would work and we got it to go back about 2 feet then someone showed up and he had a shovel so he shoveled the van out and we got back home.
of course the day we get stuck is the time when we didn't think to put a shovel in the van
