@4-Hgirl, I'm not sure about where you live, but in Louisiana and I THINK Texas (Baymule might know?), you can register you animal for Louisiana Bred. This is a great advantage outside of showmanship.. Usually in contests, the lamb or cow that wins is likely from a very selective flock/herd of animals out of state. Louisiana Bred animals have their own category of placements, to give everybody that has good animals in local state to place. Registration is easy but I do not remember the excact process..

I just went outside to do my bottle calves water and I went to go look at my pregnant heifer to see if she is calving and I went in the pen with my cow (my cows name is Toffee) and Toffee was licking a baby by the time I went out the calf was probably under 1 hour old. The calf is a heifer (name ideas would be appreciated) Toffee looks like this but now she is a lot older but here is a pic of baby Toffee. So I thought that Toffees baby would also have a line on her back but nope just plain reddish-brown which is fine because as much as I want a cute baby with a line on her back I would rather just have a heathy baby regardless of the color

What a fun thread!

We moved into the country when I was 14 and I looked into joining 4H. Never did but I still love animals.

I have 2 of Toffees sisters they all look like a lineback 1 of her sisters is named Taffy. Toffees other sister is Tootsie so we have in order of age: Toffee, Taffy and Tootsie I would kind of like for Toffees baby to have a name that matches with the names of Toffee and her sisters

Twix? Matches with the candy names and beginning with a T. Calf looks great!

I would name her that but my brother named his calf that. After having animals as long as I have I start to run out of names for them all and sometimes use the same name more then once which i prefer not to do cuz that can get confusing
