Looked all day and no babies there was no mooing and no noise and in the cornfield there weren't any trampled stocks the tracks might not have been calf tracks there in one place there was only 1 track what are the chances a group of 6 calves will leave only 1 track? There are some people with drones that might come out tomorrow to look.

I am assuming that your parents also reported this to the local sheriff and police depts.
Does South Dakota have a cattle association like TX does for things like possible stolen livestock? Does SD require brands on animals ? I would alert any other sale barns within a couple hundred miles.

Sadly, yes, they are worth a lot of money and being friendly, it would be easier to steal them then animals that are wilder.

I feel very very bad for you. We worry about the same thing here with the value of the cattle now... we constantly are going and checking at pastures that are away from home. We have some pretty good neighbors around the pastures ..... mostly all cattle people... they understand what the cattle are worth and we keep watch on each others pastures and any activity that we see and animals... There have been some cattle stolen in the past when the prices had gotten high .... one guy was caught at a farmers barn, loading up cattle the farmer had gotten in a lot to catch them and get ready to ship the following week.

Hoping that they turn up somewhere for you....
