It’s sad when you have to let animals you raised go to slaughter. When I raised feeder pigs, I let my granddaughters name them. When I explained that there was their future pork chops, roast, bacon and sausage, the middle granddaughter asked if we could eat them now!

This afternoon I went out to my bantam coop and there was a chick in the middle of the run cheeping it was probably less then a day old but there were no hens with the baby and the chick was bleeding on its back so I think it was pecked by the other chickens so we put it in a water tank with a heat lamp because there was no mom

Sadly it passed away this evening 😭 😭😭😭it was my second chick that has ever hatched

I don't know who the dad was it could have either been my Partridge Wyandotte who won Champion Poultry at county fair or it could have been my Rhode Island Red who won Champion Poultry at state fair

I just went out to the same coop the other chick was in and saw a baby sitting under my Rhode Island Red pullet and it looks the same as the one that died so I think that the one I found in the run found the run door and went out but I think that the RIR had other chicks so she didn't go out with that one baby. but the one I saw right now is so adorable :)

So this morning I went out to the coop and I saw 3 babies. There was 1 yellow chick and 2 red chicks. 1 of the red chicks is the Rhode Island Red hens chick and the other 2 must be from the leghorn. There could be more then 2 chicks under the leghorn so I don't know if the there is only 3 chicks.
I don't know for sure who the one that played the eggs is it could either be a partridge Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red or Leghorn.
The dad could either be a partridge Wyandotte or a Rhode Island Red.

Here are some pics
