Good job on giving a shot! It can be scary on that first one but something tells me you handled it like a champ.
I tried twice on the same calf because I didnt get the needle into the calf so I pushed the syringe down and it got all over the calfs neck but I got the needle in on the second try.

You did good! I used to be scared to death of needles, to the point that I'd jump off the needle and had to be stabbed again. Then I got rabbits. One got sick and I took him to the vet. One shot was $10. I found out that I could buy a whole bottle of the stuff with syringes and needles for less than $10. (we are talking about a LONG time ago) I'll never forget the first shot I gave. My fear of shots transferred to being the giver of a shot, the rabbit was ok, I wasn't. I stabbed the rabbit and in my fear, I pulled right back out. I tried again, did the same thing. I was a nervous wreck. I didn't want to hurt the rabbit, yet I was stabbing the poor creature multiple times and still didn't leave the darn needle in and kept pulling it right back out. FINALLY I left it in, pushed in the antibiotic and was successful. In learning how to give a shot, I got over my irrational fear of shots and no longer care. Nothing much bothers me and I owe it all to that poor rabbit.

Well, @Baymule is not alone. First shots - eeeg. For some reason I had no trouble giving horses shots - a quick pound/smack pound/smack twist the hand and the third the needle was in. Boom and done. BUT -- dogs and sheep my hand would shake terribly. Not bad not but back in the beginning I hand and arm shook and felt like jelly.

this afternoon my oldest sister came and got me and my brother because one of the calves that we are selling got its head stuck. its head was between 2 wooden fence poles in a corner that were about 12 inches apart where there wasn't any wire. we tried to get it out and we used lube and tried to push its head out but couldn't so we waited until my dad got home and he had to go get a bottle jack and try to wedge it between the poles so they would come apart and get its head out so we finally got him unstuck :)
