Congrats on your new little! I’m lucky to live on cattle ranch with lots of bad hay ( maybe you could find some bad bales from a rancher). I open cardboard boxes, lay them between rows then cover heavily with the bad hay. No weeding and the soil benefits and I can water less. Super mulch!

They don't really raise cattle out this way unfortunately most I have seen are either goats or sheep . Other wise I would I am so tired of weeds.

I use cardboard, too. It only lasts a season here, but the worms and pill bugs love it. And the soil underneath gets loamy.

My concern here would be snakes, scorpions, and either black widows or brow recluses things. I do like the idea and if it works that be great but I have lots of toddler who would make it their mission to pick it up.... I had put labels in the ground and immediately they took to pulling them up and mixing them up lol. I don't have it fenced off sadly so they have access.

Lol I would to they are always up to something. Two of them fell asleep together in one of their beds and I was terrified when I realized they were quiet lol. There is currently a 5year old(her maturity level isn't high when it comes to behaving lol very smart, always has a comeback but give her colors or scissors watch the bad thoughts roll in hair cutting wall coloring etc), a 3 year old boy which is all go all destroy lol and turn around and fix, then my youngest daughter currently is 1 she will be 2 in Sept she has learned she has her own thoughts and opinions lol she a bomb shell waiting to go off. Lol they are all very sweet but like teenagers they have their moments lol.

Lol life has a handle wait were was that in the parent guide book lol. We are constant chaos lol my house is Lucky if it gets tidy up at this point. I actually got to sweep and mop the main areas last night which is amazing and majority of the dishes are done and some laundry is washed not put up but it's clean lol. The one older ones have it preteen hormones/ growing pains, another has is about to become a woman.... If you know you know.... She been fun lol hormone rollercoaster, constantly tired, sore and mildly cranky(that changes) lol. The adventures of toddlers and teens they basically the same both are unreasonable and not prone to listen lol.
