G'day folks, well I finally got a few pictures of the new lambs. Not all of them but I hope to get another chance when the weather clears, but they say it will keep up for a few more days. Why is it so hard to post more than one photo?View attachment 118233

Gday folks, I keep promising that I will touch base more often, but life and the farm just seem to get in the way.

Its been pretty hard going as we have not hardly had any rain for 3 months this summer, but finally we got some in the last 3 weeks. Its enough to get the pastures going so we will have feed for winter, but the drought is not over by a long shot.

I have started to wean off the lambs and am about half way done. Overall I am pretty happy with last years lambing. I have some very good rams and the top 50% of the ewe lambs will come into the main flock mid-year. This last lambing are 5th generation of no vax /drenching. Other farmers continue to be amazed that any of my sheep are still alive, because some are drenching monthly and are still losing stock.

On the bright side ,two local resturants have ordered a whole body each after they tried some samples I gave them, one is an Indonesian place and the other has a chef from Nepal. My meat seems to fit perfectly with the cooking style from thier homelands. On the "hooks" they just look like a goat carcass, with no fat in the meat except for a little around the kidneys.

Anyway I will try to get some photos off of my phone later so you can see what I mean.......T.O.R.

x1000 what @Mini Horses said.... I was wondering just a few weeks ago how things were going.... and through friends with cattle that it had been dry as he weaned his calves about a month early...

How are you feeling??? Are your family still coming out to help a bit also?
How about the romance dept???? Any news on that front????:hide:hide:hide

Sooo glad to hear from you! Sad about the drought but glad you got a little rain lately. NE Texas was also dry last summer. Only 2 cuttings of hay. The second cutting was thick but not high. We rent out our 30 acres of hay to a neighbor who makes hay. We bought half of the second cutting and we are considering buying the rest of it since I think we may have another dry year. He has been storing up hay for the past 3 years after the last drought had him buying hay from Oklahoma! This year with cattle prices high a lot of farmers have sold off a lot of heifers as well as steers so everyone has extra hay. Now they are starting to keep back heifers since cattle numbers are down so wil probably be puttimg a big dent in their stored hay.

Good to see you! And that's great news about the restaurants! Hope you'll get more of them.
Though we're getting a touch of rain today, fields here have been yellow-ing the last couple weeks. Looking like we're in for another dry one this year.
