Leg bands?
I use tiny zip-ties, from about a week old.

Breese as meat birds:
Keep in mind that it's been a LONG time since I've raised chicks so this is subjective.
They are coming up on 4weeks old and seem to be to be larger & heavier than I remember others being at this age. The hype is that they are freezer-ready at 14weeks.
As soon as I figure out how, I'll start getting weights on them weekly.
..... anybody have ideas????

My 4 hen hatched chicks appear to be 1 pullet & 3 freezer destined roo. 🤷 Got a closer look at feeding this morn. Sad but true....the combs say this. Next weekend I'll see how the incubator idea goes. My off the wall decision to do that. :hide never know how many or sex. Buying pullets looking like a better option? Well, buying 3 mo old pullets does!! Thinking I've outgrown "cuteness".

Plus I'm not the least bit enthused with butchering. The flavor of most any home grown rivals the super growth flavor of broiler breeds. Do I need more flavor at expense of butchering?  . That is the question. Vegetarian looking good.😁

Already have 5 purebred roos....these are BYM and not needed. Plus incubator hatching more(?) next weekend. Yeah, only looking for layers. Even have 2 breeds of pure of hens/pullets. What I get is fine, if they don't crow. 🥰

BUT -- I did tell that hen I wanted pullets! 😖 Deaf ears!

I’m very interested in seeing how these grow out and weights along the way to slaughter.

Get a fish scale, it has hooks that you can hang a fish/bag on. Put chicken in grocery bag, hang on hook and you’ll have an approximate weight.
