Nate is a hoof trimmer for dairy farms. You wouldn’t believe how complex cattle hoof health is. Or maybe I need to get out more. Check it out.

He may. But mostly he uses a small grinder and a hoof knife. What’s fascinating is his ability to diagnose and remove affected hoof material. Imma suburbanite so amazed me.

A good farrier can be a miracle worker for hoof health. One of our first ponies was terribly knock kneed. I had the farrier trim him a certain way to correct it and after several months the pony was standing square with straight front legs. I have to have a special farrier trim the TWH since they need a different angle on their hooves to assist them in their gait.

My husband watches The Hoof GP. Some pretty gross stuff on there. But it is amazing what all is involved in keeping the animals healthy.

Nate is less gross and to me more educational. Hooves are amazing things. The structure, the cushioning. Ok imma nerdy.
