i have heard both yes and no. now i understand a nigi is not going to give the amount of meat as a boer thats a given but would they produce a decent amount of meat for their size? i have read they can be 60-80 pounds so as my husband compared thats the size of a small deer. i like the idea of having smaller goats because i have two young children i want to be part of the raising proccess and from what i have read yhey have great friendly personalities. any thoughts?

Morning. No, NDs are not dual purpose. With goats, you can count on about a third of their weight to be actual meat. I put two ND wethers in the freezer last week. They were 8 months old and weighed about 60 pounds---we only got a total of a tad over 15 pounds of meat from them once it was off the bone and we used that to make sausage. They are fantastic milkers and great pets, and yes you can eat any "extras" but they are not dual purpose.
