While I was watering sheep this evening, Pancake had a lamb! I ran for feed and closed the rest of the flock up in the small pen. I let 2 ewes out of the jugs, with 3 lambs. Bedlam ensued with lambs BAA BAA for mom, moms yelling for their babies, babies trying to go back in the jug, I picked up Pancake’s lamb, she was running up to the screaming lambs, frantically searching for her lamb. She had toes poking out and I wanted to get her in a jug before she dropped the second lamb. Finally got her and lamb in a jug, she had the second lamb. I smeared Tinkerbelle with birthing goop and put her in with Pancake. Didn’t fool Pancake and she butted Tinkerbelle. It just wasn’t Tinkerbelle’s day. I don’t know the sex on Pancake’s lambs, I’ll check tomorrow. And take pictures!

Lamb count 24.
I wish that would have worked for you and her.

I’m trying to let her know she is a sheep, it failed today. She’s going to be a weirdo, half dog, half human and probably won’t fit in with sheep. I’ll keep trying. I’ll take her outside when I can keep an eye on her so the ewes don’t beat her up.

I was cooking supper and Tinkerbelle curled up in the corner formed by the cabinet and the stove.

Oh, my!! What a beautifully "painted" boy that is!! We are allowed to be partial on occasion 😁

Tinkerbelle will probably work in with other lambs, when she's a tad older....my bottle kids did, mostly. They'd run & play, sleep in a pile and moms were mostly ok except at nursing time. But my bottle kids came to me for the milk! Shame that she was so weak to start. But you've done amazingly with her. It's a lot of extra work 🫂 done with caring & love. Still tiring! Makes you appreciate those moms out there 😋

I have a name for him. It’s my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. Crenshaw. I’ve been “saving” that name for a special ram and I think this one is going to be it. I’ll get him recorded, then after he’s a year old, he’ll have to pass the hair coat test. That shouldn’t be a problem, then I can register him and I’ll pay the extra $25 to “name” him.

I still haven’t gotten pictures of Pancake and her babies! I need to ear tag them too.

Tinkerbelle spent the day in an empty jug. She got some sheep exposure. I took bottles to her, she nibbled on some hay.

I thought for sure that Easter would lamb on New Year’s Eve but she lambed on the wee hours this morning. She had a black and white ram and solid black ewe, they are 75%. It was a full moon last night and tonight so I think I’ll name the ewe Moon.
