Many of the ones that trap them do donate it to things like hunters for the hungry and such... many give through organizations like churches and that.. most of the farmers/ranchers that I see posting will take the younger ones home for butcher into different cuts and bigger sows into sausage and such... But there have been protests by some of these "do-gooder" idiots about how inhumane it is to trap and kill them like that...
One thing, when they are caught in the traps, their adrenaline goes through the roof and can make the meat taste gamey/bad.... that is why the younger ones are preferred... plus the old boars in those situations will have the "boar taint" to the meat and it is mostly inedible...
You CAN NOT feed meat or meat products legally to hogs... even rendered now, they are not allowing it in some areas... Trichinosis.... gets passed to people eating pork... Yes, hogs will eat meat, but any and all meat products are not allowed in the feeds for hogs or any other animal that can be consumed by humans.
Part of the problem with using it for hungry people, is the rules and regulations put on any plant slaughtering animals for meat for human consumption... Have to be ambulatory to WALK INTO A KILL PLANT on their own... so not even supposed to have a cow that just broke it's leg to be butchered into meat for the family.... all to "protect" the consumers... but sooooo much gets wasted nowadays due to the "protection" rules... That is why deer can only be processed in a state approved facility... not USDA... unless they are raised on a deer farm and follow the protocols in place to legally harvest the deer... All venison served in some of these high end restaurants is from game farm raised deer.....
