I wonder if Emory is going to be that busy from now on. Will have to check on that and maybe refigure how we take our sheep in. More buyers is good, too many sheep and goats not. Got some ideas but will have to work on them.

Maybe your sister can just live on the to floor and build a small kitchen on the second floor.

Hamilton Commission Company has their sheep and goat sale on Mondays. They sell by the pound, not by the head. It is 210 miles from me, 3 1/2 hours, add another 30 minutes to that, dragging a trailer. The auction date closest to the date I went to Emory, they sold 2,663 head.

Emory Livestock Auction is 149 miles, 2 1/2 hours, add another 30 minutes for dragging a trailer. They sell by the head. The day I went, they sold over 600 head.

If I only have a few to sell, I take them to one of the cattle auctions, usually Nacogdoches, one hour away.

San Angelo is the huge sale, they sold over 11,000 head.

There has to be other auctions that people are going to, since Waco closed down.

Not just the time, but I'd consider the cost of fuel AND wear & tear on the vehicles...

If I’m already going 3 hours to Emory, what’s another hour to Hamilton? I gotta admit, 5 hours to San Angelo is a bit too far.

I moved to deep East Texas, cattle country. Because of the moisture, heat and humidity, parasites (worms) are rampant. Sheep and goats are susceptible to parasites, and do better in West Texas and Central Texas where it is a drier climate. So that’s where the better and bigger auctions are. The cattle auctions here will sell sheep and goats, but there are never very many and the buyers are just not there for them.

I have neighbors that are trying to get their modular home delivered. Since April. Rain has messed with getting the dirt work done, getting rock spread, getting the concrete runners poured. They texted today, asking me to check on their dirt. Stand on it without sinking….. I did one better. I drove Kawasaki mule on the pad and it was dry. I took pictures. Thursday Friday and Saturday is sunshine, then another week of rain. They were excited! Finally! Get their home delivered and set up.

Ummmmm……… NOPE!

In 3 hours we got pounded with 4 1/2” of rain. I texted them, “Cancel those pictures!”Dunno what will happen next. Maybe it will dry up enough to get delivered on Saturday. I’ll be checking on it for them.

Then my son called. The sheriff’s department called, there was a wreck in front of his house. They wanted to know the damages. Son looked at our sheriffs Facebook page, there was his house!

Son asked me to go check it out, see if there was anything damaged. I took lost of pictures and sent to him. The ditch was plowed out, neighbors fence was damaged but only tore up dirt on son’s property.

Truck was driven by a deputy, single vehicle accident. He is seriously injured. Yall please pray for him.

And the rain continues. I hope central Texas is getting a lot of rain, they are in serious drought the past few years.
Tuesday I got an inch of rain
Wednesday I got an inch of rain
Rain today, still drizzling
Power went off Tuesday, then again on Wednesday. . I called in the power outage yesterday then looked at the power outage map. For my area, I was the only one with no power. That’s weird. Several house later, linemen showed up.

. Into the transformer and shorted it out.

Carson and I took a ride on the mule down the road. The creek had gone down a lot, the beaver dam was holding.
