I don’t have a lot of winterizing to do, but I’ve been doing the little things that need attention. Today is put the pallet/tin backing back on the end of the cow panel hoop shelter in the middle field. It got sorta kinda discombobulated.

I had to dig out the dirt/poop piled against it, try to move it, go dig some more. The pallets are rotting but look like they will make it another winter.

The tarp needs replacing as does the flap in front that serves to keep blown in rain blowing somewhere else. I’ll take the flap down tomorrow. It may rain today and while it has holes in it, it still offers some shelter.

In my dragging, lifting and torture of dying pallets in stage one of decomposing, I popped some tin off. When I came in for a drill and tin screws, the attraction of a shady porch, ice water and rocking char was too strong to resist. Gonna get some more water.
Don't make yourself sick.

I thought of you this morning, Bay. When you had to say goodbye to BJ over the phone. Sob.

I called Mother's live in boyfriend and said goodbye to him. He's only 94 but now in hospice care at the place where they live. I said I'd see him in heaven and he said he'll be looking for me. Sob.
I'm so sorry.
:hugs

I love the pictures you share of your place. After the hard work, I'm glad you decided to sit awhile. 💗

Don't make yourself sick.

I stop and take plenty of breaks. I stop before I wear myself out. I listen to what my body says, it’s a new concept for me. LOL

That will haunt you and you will feel guilty for not being there. I know from experience. But the reality is what it is, and we do the best we can with it. We struggle in life, we have success and we have failure. Our failures make us human and we try to do better but fall short of the glory of God.

I know you feel bad, but your Mother’s boyfriend loves you and understands. He sounds like a very special man and he will live on in your heart until indeed, you see him in heaven.

NEVER TRUST A RAM! They can get testy when in with ewes, ours were more aggressive when they first went in with the ewes. Once everyone was bred and no one was cycling anymore they were easy. I still never trust one and try always to have my eye on any ram no matter what.

Both DH and DS1 have been knocked down by rams they "trusted".

I always check truck tires before I hitch a trailer ( I check trailer tires too) or before I go get feed and drop a thousand pounds in the back. I don’t drive it often enough, sometimes tires lose pressure, especially when weather changes. 2 tires were low, I aired them up. After I got back, I unloaded feed, parked truck and noticed the tire looking a little squishy. By evening it was flat. Not knowing why it was flat, I wasn’t going to air it up and drive it to tire store. A friend came over this morning and took it off and put it in the trunk of my car.

Tire store said it was a bad valve stem. Tire is good again. Friend will come back this evening and put it back on. I’m paying him for it even though he would do it for free. He’s had a rough time financially lately and friends take care of friends.

Another friend came over this morning to help me separate Little Ringo from the ewes. I blocked off the driveway and managed to let all but one ewe in the yard. I put feed in the tub over the fence, LR and ewe ran in, I shut gate. Chase got here, I put feed in the pen I wanted LR in, Chase stood by that gate, I opened pen gate LR was in. Sure enough, he circled towards me, giving me the eye, I showed him my hoe handle. Chase shook the bucket, LR ran across the lot, in the pen, shut and latch gate. Done.
