I grazed the 35 ewes in the yard the past couple of days. I pull the keys from the tractor and mule so they don’t pull them out for me. I’m going to let them graze it down. But when I go outside they all run to see what I’m doing.

No treats? No petting? You’re getting on the tractor? Guess we will go get a drink of water.

Why did you use lime for filling in the hole?

It’s something my son taught me. Just using dirt would turn to mud. The lime dries out mud. He told me to fill holes in layers of lime and dirt, rake out each layer before adding the next layer. I partially filled a big deep mud hole on the driveway and it worked! It has to be dry, then layer and fill it in.

Oh, that's interesting.

@Mini Horses you will be happy to know that I’ve contacted a friend about getting a couple of black Spanish goats. There is an old roping chute I need to tear down. It’s filled with wild blackberries, with thorny canes as big around as my thumb. It’s wood posts and 2”x4” horse wire stapled on the inside.

Not looking forward to this chore at all.

There’s also honeysuckle, I’ll dig some up and save it. Small trees, brush and it all has to go.

First I’ll tear down an outbuilding. There were a series of 3, all cobbled together. Hurricane Beryl blew out the middle section last year. I’ll keep the 3rd section for now, you can see the back corner of it just past the one piece I’m tearing down.

In the picture above you can see the ends of the two 40’ shipping containers that will get put in place. The first one will be put at the back of the shed that I’m tearing down, it’s corner at the corner of the shed that I’m keeping for now. Move over 40’ from the first shipping container and set up the second one. Then I can put shelves in the containers and FINALLY get my tools organized and have a feed room. I have old chicken house trusses that span 40’ and eventually will be welded in place and a roof put over the whole thing. Then after that, 20’ lean to’s off each side. The side nearest the house will be parking for my truck, tractor, mule, son’s tractor. But it all starts with tearing down that building and old roping chute. My goal is to clear space and block up the shipping containers this winter.

Also in the back is an old round pen. Most of it is gone, torn down by a guy that wanted the lumber sides to fix his well house. Still standing are railroad cross ties. It’s dry now, ground is hard. After we get some rain to soften up the ground, I’ll use son’s big tractor to pull them out of the ground.

There’s a string of chicken coops, the worst crap I’ve ever seen. I have mined them for building materials for my equally craptastic projects around here. Hopefully I can get those torn down too.

I’ve been here 3 years looking at these eyesores. My tools are “somewhere”. I have an 8’x16’ foot portable building my son moved for me from Lindale to his house, then to here. Tools and supplies are still dumped in the tubs and trash cans that were moved from Lindale. I’ve had to go buy tools that I know I have, but can’t find. It’s. Been. Driving. Me. Slap. Dab. Crazy.
