Wow, Bay! Never get picked for a jury, then when you do, it’s a doozy!

I was summoned for jury duty for yesterday. First time ever. But they sent me an email Tuesday night saying I didn’t have to report in the morning. I was glad because I have an ADHD evaluation appointment scheduled for Monday morning and I was worried I would get picked for a trial that would run into next week. I missed my first evaluation appointment because I forgot it was that day, and I had to wait a month to get this appointment. I just can’t miss this one. It’s a super expensive test but our deductible is already met for this year, so we won’t have to pay much. But if it gets pushed back to 2026, yikes!

Do you have ADHD? How do you get tested? I’m pretty sure I have that Superpower.

Another day, again tomorrow and Judge said probably closing Monday, then we deliberate. There’s several smokers, the Bailiff said when they go out to smoke, we all go. LOL
I hope it finishes that quickly for you! Ever since my son became a state trooper, they no longer select me. I've probably been called at least 6 times. The first time was about 3 months after I turned 18 and registered to vote.

I don’t know yet if I do, but I’ve long suspected it. Unfortunately mine does not come with the H part. I’m kind of sloth-like.

A friend who was recently diagnosed gave me the number of her psychologist. I had an “intake” appointment where she evaluated whether it was warranted to do the formal testing, and then we scheduled it. It is apparently a 3 hour test.

My ex-son-in-law is ADHD and both of their kids seem to have it, so my daughter had them both tested and they do have it. And interestingly enough, she herself got tested this year and she has it too.

@Finnie, You do realize that most people with ADHD are above normal intelligence? We may be flighty and goofy, but on a topic that catches our interest, we zero in like a laser beam. A lot of high achievers are on the spectrum. Elon Musk has Aspergers. My son in law has Aspergers and OCD. My DD has ADHD, as does her youngest daughter. I see myself in that girl. So I'm pretty sure I'm ADHD, it would be nice to be tested. I joined several FB groups and as I read posts, I think, I DO THAT!

Yes, I have often thought the “I DO THAT!” thought. Which is how my friend urged me to call her doctor, when we were discussing her diagnosis and medication.

And yeah, straight A students runs in my family. No actual geniuses, but pretty smart. And several with OCD. I’ve always known alcoholism ran in my dad’s family. They used to say how there was one black sheep/alcoholic in every generation. They were kidding themselves. There were many in each generation!

But I can see how struggling with OCD, ADHD and other related mental health conditions can lead to self medicating. I don’t drink, mainly from seeing what alcoholism did to my dad. But also because I have seen addictive qualities in my personality relating to whatever thing that catches my interest (computer solitaire, budgies, chickens, yarn etc).

I would encourage you to call and make an appointment with a psychologist. If you don’t know of any, ask your regular doctor for a recommendation. My friend says that her medication has made a huge difference and she had no idea that the constant thoughts racing through her brain could be calmed.

So if one gets tested (like us in our prime, or others I guess) and we've been fine, then what? I think we all tend to zero in on things that interest us to learn more. Getting things done on our ranches is a fact of life - see, focus, get 'er done.
I guess I'm saying if we have lived well then what's the point? Not dissing anyone, I see where it could be too much of thing and not be good, but is it the current thing to get tested for??
Asking for me, not for a friend ;)🤞

Distractions & misplacing stuff is a part of life, IMO. Besides if I've coped with it all these yrs, I'm good to go. :old
You probably are good to go. There is a difference between senioritis and a debilitating condition that affects every aspect of your life and that you’ve had to cope with for as long as you can remember. It’s not just about attention span. It’s about brain chaos versus calm clarity.

@SageHill is right. Those who have lived well and gotten things done and been fine don’t need to be tested. They probably don’t have it. And I do think there is an aspect of it being the latest trend. That can be tough for the people who really need help when there are so many who are just jumping on the bandwagon.

If @Baymule ’s descendants have it and she can see herself in them, she may well have it. But she’s such a go-getter, that she may be one who manages fine already and doesn’t need therapy or medication. I sure wish I had the H part. I’ve always admired the people who are high energy and get lots of things accomplished. I’m always the one lagging behind trying to catch up.
