Caleb came up to me, seemed to want petting. I rubbed him all over. He took my hand in his mouth, big NO NO. I looked at him, said "I think someone is ready for BED", then walked over to his crate...AND CALEB WENT IN WITHOUT ANY URGING!

So...I took Caleb to the park this morning.
A senior group were doing a 5k walk/run. Caleb got to hear a starter's pistol (big jump, calmed down), see about 15 people in a group moving quickly, saw other joggers, and then...two dogs on leads about 30' away. They didn't react to Caleb. He looked at them, then started sniffing around, ignoring them.
AND then I walked over to the organizers of the event. Caleb sat beautifully while I spoke with the lady in charge. She commented on Caleb being cute, bent over. He walked to her, sniffed her hand, turned his back, sat at her feet, and enjoyed being petted. I've been concerned about people wanting to pet Caleb, I ask them not to, but in this case he approached her. His terms.

You can bring your travel buddy down here. Fenced front yard, porch to lay under and he's welcome in the house too. I have the biggest dog crate I could find or you can bring his own "house".

I'm hoping to see the Grands in late July or during August, but am waiting on more info from DD. They move in with my sister at the end of May, and then into their new apartment mid July.
I can't take Caleb, though. I found out eldest GD is allergic to dogs.

I wore him out.
Caleb got his nightly street walk about 6:30, less than 1/2 mile, but he was walking slowly near the end. Then he was antsy about 7:30, did a zoom run around the house. I asked "Do you need to go to BED in your CRATE?" and he zipped inside and laid down. I latched the door, and within a few minutes he appeared to be asleep.
