That's the plan. They don't have to be friends, just have calm coexistence.

I fully expect backsliding, three steps forward, one step back...but it was very encouraging.

Just make sure that he doesn't eat/swallow the rope. Looks like he isn't - ropes aren't happy when they get swallowed.
FYI --- about 1/2 teas +/- table salt will make a dog barf in a few to 10 minutes.

It does look like he will enjoy opening Christmas presents!! One of mine grabs, tears, and tosses the paper, repeat, repeat, ..... But only when presents are being opened. Under the tree they are safe.

I've been picking up bits of rope and toy for several days, I don't think he's eating them. He does bring me bits of paper he's found, from crumpled up receipts mainly. He tried walking off with a Christmas card envelope, held the corner between his teeth.

I am so upset. I was walking Caleb this afternoon when two loose dogs came down the street, towards us. I stood "large" and roared when the bigger of the two, looked like an 80# Akita, approached in a head down unfriendly manner. Poor Caleb went nuts, barking at the two. It kept advancing so I stepped forward, roaring loudly at it. It hesitated, but then a neighbor came out, started yelling at it as well, and it sauntered off, its Benji lookalike companion following.

Caleb is still upset, taumatized, and I am furious. Something similar happened to my Tirzah as a puppy, she was attacked by a loose Boxer, and she hated all dogs from that day forward. I don't want Caleb traumatized like that.

Friggin idiots...
