I know that it is possible but does anyone have experience with it? I have two unaltered males and have been offered 3 more gelded males. They are for fiber, so it is not necessary for me to have females for breeding as this would be plenty. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience?

Thank you!

When you say "gelded" I think horses/ponies... Are you talking sheep/goats?

All our boys are intact. Despite a few scuffles once in a while they get along well.

If they will not be used for breeding, I see no reason to leave them intact. JMO

Cost only I guess. Neighbor across the road has 2 intact males. They fuss at each other some. First time I heard it I thought they were being attacked by a predator. They only reason she hasn't had them gelded is the cost, apparently $250 to $350 per animal??

As long as they get along with each other and don't challenge you, then there isn't a big need to castrate. Most people I know with llamas and alpacas keep their intact boys together. There is the occasional male that can't live with other boys, but usually they are fine.
