My Facebook feed has been JAMMED with posts of what people are bringing to the swap & where their booths can be found... since Wed. 🤯 They are camping out for days to be sure to get good spaces. 😳 This thing gets bigger every year. It's almost too much to see in one day as it is.
I'm taking my sister just so she can see the spectacle of it. 😂 .... and so she can guard my wallet because I'm petty she @farmerjan , @Mini Horses , and @fuzzi would happily encourage me to spend next month's mortgage on animals, plants & crafts! 🤣
I'm driving my Highlander, lots of room for stuff.

Is there a webpage for this event? I don't do Facebook.

SOOOOO Looking forward to meeting up with more "like minded" friends this year...
Already arranged to get some of the Buff Leghorns from the friend/poultry judge that we saw last fall... I do want to breed some exhibition quality... he will have some "cull" hens also so will get a few extras for eggs too probably...
2 of my blueberry plants don't seem to have survived the miserable cold, frigid temps and ice/snow etc that we had this winter so will try to replace them if I can... they are soooo expensive in TSC and the nursery here...

I am actually going to drive the Explorer this year... it gets near the mpg as the subaru... so lots of room for the chickens to be inside instead of in the pickup bed...safer going down the road home too..... going to stop at the cardboard dumpster to see if there are any good boxes to bring along... got the roll of "tape" in there from the roosters I took to my ex for that friend of his... to put any boxes together if I need more... Want to see if I can find any of the "Vorweck" chickens, that I should have bought when I saw them a year ago(maybe 2 yrs ago?)... where I bought that big "trap" @Mini Horses .... Got plenty of room in the explorer... I've missed the big roosters crowing so will be glad to get some more back...

Have any of you ever heard of hypnopompic hallucinations?

For years I've occasionally been woken up by sounds that would be proven to not exist. Sometimes it would be one of my pets in distress.... only to search the house & find them asleep. Frequently it would be someone pounding on the door. Once I thought I also saw reflected red & blue lights on the trees in the very dark front yard... which convincing me for a few moments that the police were at my door. I eventuality learned to check the dogs 1st.... if they were still asleep, I would roll over & forget about it.

When I say occasionally I mean a few times a year. Maybe once a month for a few times, then nothing for months. But the first couple of times a new sound would happen, it would be so disturbing that I would be up for hours.
Thinking back... maybe this is why I started sleeping with an audio book or the TV on 🤔

It hasn't happened in a very long time. Or, if it has I've gotten so used to ignoring it that it doesn't bother me anymore.
But last night a new one really shook me up. I 'heard' my storm door open & slam. None of the cats were nearby, so after a few moments I crept through the dark house to peek out. Naturally there was no sign of anything outside. But I checked all the doors & looked out all the windows anyway. And Chaos was shortly at my side which convinced me it had been one of my 'in my head' sounds because he hides when anyone comes over.

As long as I was wide awake, I decided to Google & see if I was going crazy. Google found hypnopompic hallucinations and describes it as Auditory hallucinations that occur while waking up, also known as hypnopompic hallucinations, are generally considered normal and harmless. They often involve hearing sounds like ringing, voices, or other environmental sounds that are not actually present.

The articles I found described them as usually being sounds that were vague or hard to identify.... but the ones I've experienced are very specific. I 'knew' which animal was in distress, I 'knew' which door was being pounded on & could describe how many bangs I thought I had heard. They also often listed prolonged insomnia as a possible cause.... which has been particularly bad lately.

So... still being a little disturbed by it, I thought I'd ask if any of you have ever had something like this happen to you or knew someone who had.
It’s weird, probably the power of suggestion? But I was just reading this after only getting 3 hours of sleep last night. Woke up at 6:15 am and couldn’t go back to sleep. I knew I would only be able to sleep once my alarm was close to going off. (Set for 8:45) So I was laying here catching up on posts.

I tend to have lots of weird/vivid dreams. What I will often experience is that I’m laying down thinking about stuff and not expecting to fall asleep and then my thoughts become gibberish. Then something will startle me awake and the only way I know I actually was asleep is because I am aware that there was the gibberish. And sometimes I do hear things, but I have always assumed it was part of a dream.

So just now, after reading this, I decided since my alarm was going to go off in 15 minutes, I better put my phone down and try to get at least a short nap in. Sure enough I was able to start dozing off and I don’t think I was ever asleep this time. But I clearly heard our driveway sensor chime sound faintly. The only thing weird about that is that normally it’s too faint to hear it here in the bedroom. So I immediately thought about this thread and thought it was weird that I would hear a sound after reading about hearing sounds.

@fuzzi , It's an oddly disturbing thing. On one hand you're SURE it wasn't real - nothing about it was 'quite right'..... but in the other hand you HAVE to check it out & confirm.
I put in an extra shift yesterday. Worked the creel instead of the Beamer (bites to be versatile) but the entire day was OT 🥳. The fiber was being a bugger & I rarely got a chance to get off my feet. DMSO massage & ibuprofen to the rescue.
Having a down day today, just waiting on my hay guy to text that he's coming.
No news from the broody box.
Starting my regular 48hr shift tonight.

After my mom died I dreamed that she sat on the foot of my bed. It was so clear, so real. But as I believe that there is no communication between the dead and the live, it was either a dream or something that was not good, something playing games with me.
