Work weekend - Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. The cool weather has been a huge relief!!!! This was also the day shift's brand newly certified Beamer operator's first weekend working alone. Poor thing was completely overwhelmed & left it in a MESS Fri & Sat nights. I made sure to encourage him, especially since everyone else was being pretty hard on him. He finally started to get a handle on it Sunday so Sun night was MUCH better.
Then I came home and when I went to let the chickens out the smell in there nearly gagged me!!!! WTH!?!?!?
Turned out one of my hens had an injury around the base of her leg. With the quick visits before & after work to let them in & out over the last 3 days, I failed to notice. Now it was infected & the flies had gotten to it...
I feel horrible!!!! She was so sick. I decided to euthanize rather than put her through what seemed to surely be hopeless treatment. Poor girl. I failed her.
So much for breakfast. I can't seem to get rid of the smell. Long hot shower didn't help. Must be in my nose.
I'm so sorry that happened. We can't always catch everything, no matter how much we want to. :(:hugs

3am.... wide awake. 😒
Going to go ahead & get the coffee going. I've got some extra cleaning to get done before Vickie & Glenn arrive next week.

Funny how when I WANT to create a new routine or habit it takes forever.... and often fails. But things that I don't necessarily want to become a habit can take deep roots in just 1 or 2 repetitions.
¤ put the folded laundry away immediately.... struggle always to get it done
¤ leave the basket next to the dryer once & is back to square one
Same with the dishes in the dish washer. 🫣

I hate unloading the dishwasher. I have a basket of dry clothes that I hung out on the clothes line. Not folded. Need to dust.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

When my husband retired I asked him what my retirement was going to be! (I'm a domestic engineer...lol)He said you still need to take care of me, then he asked what I would like to retire from...I told him dishes, I don't mind loading but I loathe unloading...so, he now does the dishes, but I help more often than not.

My husband was more than a little OCD. We retired and he decides that I did not load the dishwasher correctly and would take all the dishes out, then put them back in. Did it make me mad? Not in the least bit. I gladly abdicated my dishwasher throne to him. Only had to teach him where a few things went and it was all good!

Well, you can't ask for anything better than that. 🤣

Sooooooo......
Yall know by now how I love change & drama. 😒

I've worked with my new shift for 4 whole days & today I get called into the plant mgr's office.
There is a 'dept' that makes medical fiber. The stuff used to reattach ligaments and such. The entire department is one woman. When she's not there, it doesn't run. They've decided that she needs a backup and apparently my name was on the short list (...of one name 🙄). It seems that she answers directly to a team of engineers over at Honeywell & when approval came through to double the staff, someone requested me. 😳
I've never met any of these folks. Some guy in a Honeywell shirt came by this afternoon & just gushed about how happy he was to have me join the team.... how they couldn't have made a better choice.
.... no pressure there... my boss's boss's boss is expecting me to nail this & I've never even see the process. I have, though, seen a LOT of failed product. Like, dumpsters full.... so it must be pretty exacting.
Anyhow - I start training Mon AM. It'll be Mon-Thurs 7am-7pm. Once I get certified I get to go back to the Beamer & only do medical when she's out.

Which means (@farmerjan , @Mini Horses , @fuzzi ) if I'm still in training Sept 20, I can go to Gilmanor!

Wow! That's exciting to be selected for a "specialized" fiber. Meticulous, I'm sure -- no pressure there  the only concerns I'd see might be that it doesn't seem to be enough exposure for a once in a while need. Then again, she may want more time off -- and they may want to increase those avenues of contracts! I see an increase in pay! Analize if 2 can work at once while there.

It would be great if it works to give you time for Gilmanor 😁

I am thrilled that it might mean you can come to Gilmanor.... BUT.... I "think" I am sad for the change of position .... IF you are sad about it.... Not sure what it will mean for you.... BECAUSE... if she is there, and they want to double the staff... does that mean a different shift??? Will you be a "floater" and go there if she is out and not to your "normal" position??????

Even though money is not everything.... IMPORTANT QUESTION..... are there financial benefits to this new training and position???? Let's face it... YOU are OBVIOUSLY VERY VERY GOOD at what you are doing....and what you are capable of learning to do..... or you would not have been on their "short list of one".... meaning they looked at who was working there, what their abilities are and what their WORK ETHIC IS.... and HAND PICKED YOU......

I am very thrilled that they see your capabilities and realize what a benefit you are to their business....

I do believe they know that you are an excellent worker and take pride in what you do. That's fabulous - and FAR better than where you were a year or so ago!! Congrats on the recognition and the new responsibility. No matter what - you will rock it!

For the foreseeable future, it will be a floater position. After I test out & am certified on the procedure(s), I'll be back to full time on the A-Shift Beamer schedule, but will move to the medical lab anytime she is out and there is work to do there.
There is an increase in pay. That will off-set losing the night shift differential. 👍
However, there is a small chance, if the demand should increase dramatically, that they might consider starting up a night shift for production of that product. Since it currently only runs Mon-Thurs, I think they'd consider adding days on either a Thurs-Sun or a Fri-Mon instead.?
For now, it's all up in the air. I have to learn it - and pass testing first.
