This past week was the week I had been training for, Angie was on vaca.
I worked all day Tues alone in the lab & got a ton accomplished.
Wed the 2 supervisors wanted me to to some tests that I hadn't been trained for, or even seen. I refused. They came back with 'Sneaky Plant Mgr' & tried to pressure me - I said I'd take a crack at it IF one of them walked me through the process & showed me how so I could take notes.
Suddenly getting those samples wasn't important & could wait till Angie got back... AND I shouldn't be working alone in the lab without (the non-existent) certifications, so down to the cutting table I went for the rest of Wed & all of Thurs.
The cutting table is just about the basest level of unskilled busy work in the plant.Still Day shift, still getting paid - not MY production #'s grinding to a halt. It's also right outside 'Sneaky Plant Mgr's office.
Roughly an hour after I started at the table my Beamer trainer walked by & VERY LOUDLY yelled "Debbie!!! What happened?? I thought you were holding down the fort upstairs?"
I replied just as loudly "I don't know Val! Looks like I'm being punished for refusing to do work I haven't been trained on!"

"Those who can't, teach"Yeah, we all have had them. My general mgr has managed to pretty much destroy our company... with declining farm numbers, and her ineptitude, when the last couple of us "old timers" quit/retire out, there will be no one left to test the herds that are left, in this area... But it is different in a factory type setting like yours, they manage to hurt the company and disguise it in ways that affords them to keep their jobs.....
We have a saying here... if a farmer cannot make it in farming, he gets a gov't job telling other farmers how to make it farming... have seen a couple of them over the years that have gone into extension work, or work for other companies that service farmers... ALMOST FUNNY if it wasn't so sad for many of us to see...
