care for goat's claws?

sometimes i notice my doe chewing at her claws.

i note that they are... flaky, for lack of a better word. is this normal? should they be trimmed or moisturized?

Yes, goat hooves should be properly trimmed if they are not on stoney, rocky ground. You can see videos online at Utube on how to do it.

Go online and order a Hoegger's goat catalog. They have a lot of information about goats, and you can buy lots of goat items there. They have goat hoof trimmers for a reasonable price. Besides, it's fun to read.

Also another catalog is Caprine Supply, they too have goat info.

not her hooves... the dewclaws... the hardened/calloused knobs above the hooves on the back of the pasterns.
