Hi all, I am new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer and I live in Georgia and I am raising sheep! We love our sheep and am still learning but I want to know about all there is to know.
Like what kind of vaccines?
What kind of worming you do?
Alos what do you feed them in the winter?

Welcome! Lots of Shepard's here. Me, I'm raising goats, of course some chickens. Despite some "bad rap" goats are super smart. Have both meat & dairy breeds. Yes, I milk & having goat cheese as part of dinner. 😁

Some sheepies will be around to share their knowledge.

I raise Katahdin hair sheep, on 25 acres in east Texas down a dead end dirt road in the middle of nowhere. I’ve had sheep for 10 years. Have learned so much from people here on BYH. I’ll be glad to help any way I can.

First of all, I highly recommend reading past posts in the sheep forum. Start at the top, open it up, select posts and read them. Come up for air and ask questions. We will do our best to answer. A lot of those posts will teach you things you haven’t even thought about.

That’s what I did, it gave me a better understanding of the basics I needed.

What breed of sheep do you have?

Welcome to the club from Louisiana. I am in the business of Katahdin and a couple of Barbados Blackbelly sheep. I haven't looked into vaccinations for sheep unless I have a medical problem. For deworming, sticking with one souce allows worms to become immune over time. Just as @SageHill said, I rotate between ivermectin, safe guard, and sydectin. It rarely snows in the winter, but when it does, I just keep hay and protein feed on hand. I am also curious as to what kind of sheep you may have?
