My nigerian Dwarf doe just had 5 babies........one of them is not doing so goood. she was fine last night drinking and all. brought her inside to get her warm and put a coat on her and set her out with her mother and other sister, while the other three at the time were not doing so well i kept them inside, and i kept checking on them through the night, then when i went out at 5 am, she was laying there alittle cold. brought her in and she has been really wabally and not looking happy at all having a really hard time stand up and all....any ideas? I really want her to live! thanks

How is she eating? Has she gotten any colostrum? What is her temperature? Even fiasco farms colostrum would be better than nothing.

With five babies she may be the runt. How is she in size compared to the others?

What about a BoSe shot? She could be low on selenium.

Fiasco has some good ideas. Colostrum is really important. I've also seen that you can give a bit of Karo syrup mixed with water, but I've never personally done that.

Good luck! I hope she makes it.

Call a vet and get some BoSe quickly if you do not have some. Milk out mom and start her on the bottle---this is just my opinion but that is a LOT of kids to be feeding and if she is weak and not as aggressively trying to feed, she won't get enough. Get some of mom's colostrum/milk into her for a few days and then switch over to whole fat cow milk. I would be tempted to pull at least one other too so that a) they are all getting fed enough and b) the weak doeling has a buddy to be with.

B vitamin shot, too. 1cc would probably do her a world of good. Keep her warm, feed some colostrom, and B shot and BoSe.

Thanks everyone for your support. She wasn't the runt, the runt is actually doing well and running around and all. She has not perked up, milked the mother to get the colostrum from the mom and started her on a bottle...

If she still isn't looking great after getting a bottle give her some baking soda. 1/4 teaspoon, ones and then again in 3 or 4 hours and see if that helps. ;plus the things that others has mentioned.
