This fence is close to 80" high. The grass is greener in the garden...🤣
We're going to have to add some hog panels to the posts to keep them from getting out. My son caught them in the strawberries last time we were away from home. I finally caught them in the act!

The trick to fencing any chicken in or out..... They need somewhere to LAND at the top of the fence... even some can "land/balance" on cow or hog panels... ESPECIALLY lighter breeds like leghorns, minorcas, game birds... if you are fencing them out of the garden... the fence needs to lean towards them so they cannot judge the distance and be able to get on the top edge... NO tops of the posts... no brace post rail... NOTHING SOLID....for them to feel like they can fly up and ON TO...... I have had turkeys that could fly and land on rooftops of sheds etc that were 10 ft or more tall... BUT... it is something SOLID for them to aspire too...

In our last group of girls we only had one escapee and that was penny. We figured out where she was getting out and was able to keep her contained. These two are a whole different experience...lol We'll be adding something they can't land on. Thank you for the advice on having it lean in, I will tell my husband and we will do that.

We had bantams for years and those girls & roos could fly. They slept in the trees most nights. They had complete freedom in our yard. We lost way too many to stray dogs. So when we lost the last one, I told my husband I couldn't do it anymore. It was just too sad. Then Covid came and we decided to try again, with standards, we would build them a nice safe pen or I didn't want them. So that's what we did.

My last two girls from my 2020 flock.
