We had to go to town again today. I went out and checked on the girls when I got home, I lost one of my Wyandotte's. They are locked up again and it's going to be that way for a long while. We're starting a bathroom remodel and that's going to take time. My husband might come up with something else. But I don't know. The wind knocked down one of the ladders and it took down a line. I don't know if that's why, but I'm not risking them again.

This is why I didn't want chickens again. I hate losing them and it makes me sick thinking about how terrifying it is for them. 😢

I am real sorry that this free loading predator is constantly returning...and is obviously NOT AFRAID of anything...
Do you have outside cats? (Don't want them to get caught in these....) You can take and set traps (the jaw trap kind) on the top of fence posts... with some real tempting meat... maybe part of the chicken carcass.... tied to the post on the side...or a small piece set on the trip pan.... when the bird comes in to try to grab it, the trap catches the leg... and you quietly do the SSS routine... knock it in the head/chop it off/ or otherwise cause it's demise... had a friend that used to have to do that for the owls that were coming in the evening and grabbing his chickens off the roosts in the big houses he had.... He didn't know what happened to the owls, they must have just moved on to another set of woods....they just quit showing up....

You need to find out what type of hawk or predator is actually getting them.... game camera to actually capture on "film" what the problem is... and where it seems to be coming from....

Thank you Jan! I think my son has one of those. Just need to find it. I was thinking about getting a game camera, probably should add it to my list. They are definitely not afraid of us. I've been seeing a pretty good sized one around.

On another subject. We started our bathroom remodel tonight. I was able to take out my frustration on the tile with my framing hammer. I would have liked to use a sledgehammer, but had a wall on the other side that needs to remain intact...lol

After this post I will wait and share before pictures again and afters once we are all done... who knows how long that will be. Tile is picked out, but that's about it. Hubs says he's not going to build the new vanity or the new cabinet we're putting in where our current shower is. I bet he changes his mind once we get a quote on the cost. The cabinet has to be custom built.

Demo of the tile and sheet rock took about an hour. Then a bit more for the skirting in front of the tub and all of the clean up. We will be removing the tub in pieces, it's old and needs to go. We will be installing a walk in shower in it's place. Hubs has a hard time getting in and out of the tub.

He built this vanity. We will be using it out in the garage for new storage.

Kind of mind boggling to think that we built this over 30 years ago. Started in 92', took us 3 years.

We're finished for the night.
