Electric Fence?

I know nothing about electric fences and I was wondering if electric fences work well for Alpine goats?

And if it would be good with Alpines, could you explain how to set up/what materials I would need?

Works for my Nubians, but NOT for my naughty Nigerians.

You'll need a good 1 j. charger, and I prefer the tape...with T posts. I've heard a lot of good feedback on the electric net fencing too.

Primer 1 supply's, I got my electro netting fencing from them and it was free shipping on it. I also think its alot cheaper then some of the other carriers. I just got the E'Stop 9/42/6 Electric Netting.

I didnot get my electric box from them I just went to Tractor Supply and bought there V-10 plug in box and that works great! I have Nigerian Dwarf and Pygmy goats and they do not challenge that fence and I havent had any issues with it. I love it also because it keeps the coyotes and bears out and the kids and lambs in!

We have a charger that is putting out 18 Joules on our fence and we have 4 lines of high-tensile fencing with "juice" on it.
Top wire - juice
2nd wire - no juice
3rd wire - juice (this one is at nose level on our Boers and Nubians)
4th wire - no juice
5th wire - juice
6th wire - juice

Definitely don't get the 35" electronet. I got some for my sheep and my goat kid sails over it. I also am borrowing a roll of the 42" high stuff and it keeps them in. I've had success with the tape fencing too, 1" wide. For our permanent perimeter fence we have a wire field fence with a hot wire inside, and it works really well to keep everyone off the fence. No climbing, rubbing, or pushing.

Yeah, they rub all over our fence...thinking about adding a hot wire inside at some point. Also thinking about that netting for a pasture area to put them out in the brush for grazing. Would be nice to be able to easily move it around! Execpt I can only do it with ones I'm not milking cause with my one girl I'm milking now I can CLEARLY tell a taste difference if she has much browse at all.
