Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving day. It was chilly to start, 32, was mostly sunny all day and got up to 64... quite comfortable. I worked outside a little, after doing the calves. Had to corner them but then they drank pretty good. DS will load the cow tomorrow morning and take to the landfill down near the farm he has down there... Tonight's feeding went pretty good, had to chase 801's black calf around but the holstein didn't fight me once I got ahold of him, and drank his bottle right down.
Tomorrow James will be here to do some more stuff, and DS wants to band/work the calves he got a week or so ago, and get them turned out with the others now that they are acclimated and used to coming in the barn and to a bunk for feed. I hope that James and I can get the shelter frame moved around after I get him to run the walk behind weed eater around in the area to clean it up. I will go up to feed the calves and then come back until DS calls to say he is ready to load the cow. He said he is going to go hunting for a bit because there is a neighbor that has been seen out on our farm hunting... no permission...and told no hunting since there are people that have permission to be out there.... had trouble with him last year, having a couple of people from his side over in the farm, and now one of the guys that hunts on us told DS that he has seen them over a couple times... hence DS going out there tomorrow morning.
Then I worked inside, in the LR going through some papers and folding clothes that have been sitting way too long... towels and such that I have not needed, so not pushed to get them folded and put away. Not near done yet, but making a dent.
Went with DS to a friend's house, around 6 pm for dinner, that used to show chickens, that's how we all met, and I used to farm sit for them years ago when they went to shows and needed someone to just keep an eye on the house and the dogs... feed the chickens they had; had someone else that did the horses...
Don't know if you ever came across them
@Mini Horses ... Mayes Show Ponies... Paul Maye is from Wales I think,,, good looking guy, neat accent, his wife, Cheryl, used to ride competition hunt classes...teaches lessons, now older son rides hunt... jumpers and all,,, and their younger son is into driving also... Paul does all driving classes... small and large... Has been overseas for some competitions also... he travels and trains carriage animals.. Really good and travels alot showing clients animals...
It was a good supper, not too many people, and sat and talked with several others there...
Time to go to bed so I can get up and do calves, lock them on the other side of the barn so DS can get in with the truck later and not worry about the calves getting out loose on him... Plus be ready for James to come and get started on stuff that needs to be done.
I also chanced it and put a load of laundry in to soak yesterday... filled for a 1/2 load... got them agitated with the detergent and all to soak... then added hot water this morning to fill, and washed them... ran the wash cycle twice...same water.... then let them run through the rinse. Then tonight I did a 2nd rinse like I always do so make sure there is no soap in them.... and will hang tomorrow. Couple of partly cloudy / partly sunny days in the forecast, so will hang tomorrow. It's delicate fabrics so they will dry fast.
I am ready to go to bed.... Also, want to get the meters and hoses out of the car tomorrow since I will not need them for several days at least. Coming up time to do the 500 cow herd again... and have 2 more to contact.... Then next thing you know we will be into Dec already....
