Cold and wet here again this morning... 48 overnight. Supposed to clear off some later, after noontime... we'll see. Going to take the meters to the farm here in a little bit. Get the bottles in the racks for taking to the farm...

Not going to do much outside today. I need to spend some time looking for the cattle stuff and see if I can find copies of the reg papers or the sale catalog on the 2 bulls we bought at the Quaker Hill sale so I can find the tattoo info... Been several years... and maybe when DS talks to the son again, he will just agree that it must be our bull since it just showed up a couple days ago... Too many people know that the bull went missing and that we were looking for it and that they supposedly had a "stray bull" show up at their place...it will not look good for them to try to claim it like the father said, since the son told DS they had one that was not theirs...

In Texas we are still barbarians, we hot brand. There’s freeze brands too, but mainly I see hot brands. If any bleeding heart showed up to a branding party, he/she might leave with a brand on their cheek and I don’t mean their face. I hate idiots. Getting to be more and more of them.

Problem solved... Bull was down in the riparian area, way down and although DS said he looked twice... he never saw the bull... new guy that rented across the fence at the "witch's" farm... messaged GF when she had posted it on Facebook.... said he would see him in the late afternoons laying down there near the fence...when he would check his steers that just got turned out there... pretty dense brush and trees/overgrowth...
And the bull that the son said he did not recognize, turned out to belong to another neighbor... and the father had to "eat his words" when that neighbor came and saw him and talked to the son...
I am just VERY GLAD that we are not in that "mix up" mess....
Better yet, glad we got our bull .... GF called me to tell me the guy had seen the bull and sent her a message.... DS was going with his father yesterday to the D-Day memorial in Bedford Va as they were having Memorial Day celebrations all week... Seems the bull had worked his way back up the hill... looking for his "girls" probably.... and was in the lot there next door. We had left the one interior gate open, near the catch pen, in case he did come up from "somewhere"... so I told her, I was going to take meters to a farm, then would come back and go down and look for him.... DS had just gone up the road in the truck and trailer and saw him, about the time she called me... he went to the farm, got the other truck to come back.... and I had just gone out the door, saw bull in the lot, and was going in the gate to shut the interior gate to keep him in the lot as DS got there. So he got shut in the lot for the day since DS was leaving with his dad.... and I went to the farm and took the meters...
Bull was still in the lot when I left to go to work later so all was good. DS came to get him after he got home late aft... I had just gotten home from work... then he took him to a friends chute since it is bigger than ours and would accommodate the bull's bulk...he got 2 new ear tags, then dropped him off at the nurse cow pasture with the heifers.... Then GF was up here, and they decided which bull he was taking to the farm down by her... soooo.. whatever... when he told me he was going to get the bull eartagged, then we discussed who was going where, and I said to take bull with him when he went to her house.... so he said, okay, he didn't think of that... I did the calves and came out and shut gates.... Then find out he decided to take him to snyder's so there wouldn't be any chance of him getting out down there.... and they decided on a different one to go down there.... I give up.....

I did what I had to do and then he called later, and was all "chatty" and told me which bull he took down there, was that "okay"???? well at that point what difference did it make what I thought...???? He then said whatcha doing.. and I said I am going to bed to get up at 4 and go test in the morning..... he said, oh, okay, talk to you tomorrow....

Get a text this morning, was I going to be around this afternoon, to move a few more animals around... look at the ckd preg cows and who was shorter bred and had the smaller calves that could go out to different pastures... I called him on my way home from testing and said I wasn't working this afternoon, so will be around to do some stuff later...

So, I have gone out and did the chickens, had to make some phone calls for work, and going to pack samples and take them to UPS and then I can help him later...

Time to get some stuff done.... It has been a little wet... some showers earlier... Halfway sun peeking then clouds up again... at least it is a little warmer... 54 to start and mid 60's so far.

He only had to breed 6 in 3 months... not exactly overdoing it....:th:th;):lol:
The other bull caught all the rest... 15....in 60 days.... most all within the first 30 days.... then only these 6... and I am not sure if some weren't caught by the other bull just before we took him out.... right borderline... and we took the one out and put this one right in there....only 1 open... the old cow... so not surprising...

There was a little sun this afternoon, peeking out...Emptied the rain gauges... right at .9 inch.... Warmed up a bit... 75 in the sun for alittle while, but sun was spotty.... then it got dark and all of a sudden it was sprinkling, then a good rain for about a 1/2 hour I guess.

Samples packed and taken to UPS and then I had to go to a farm that the computer did not complete the upload... Had to "unlock" it, rescan and send the file... It showed it went through. I called the lab, left a message that his computer said it had been sent... hoped they got it this time...

Came home... I have not felt "right"... maybe just tired from getting up early and not having lunch...

Got 100 cow herd tomorrow afternoon... no set up....need to get bottles for both herds in racks/trays, and in the car so one less thing to have to remember ... 70 cows and I need my computer for Sat morning herd..... test and then go set up at the other herd for that 3:30 Sat morning milking...

Waited for DS to call, and he never did... then I texted him after I had run out to put the windows up when it started to rain.... he had tried to call in the 5 minutes I was out there... but now haven't heard anything back...nothing new.... Since I have the lists from the vet check, I don't think they did anything about trying to move some cows... ... and since he tried to call I expect that he is okay... he was going to go spray thistles for awhile today....I was a little concerned since he was going to the steeper pasture... but when I saw he had tried to call, I figured he was okay....

Going to take a shower and go to bed... at least I can sleep some in the morning 'cuz I sure won't get much Fri night with having to get up so early Sat morning... :(☹️☹️😫😩... my own doing... not going to do it again that is for sure...I'm "past" those hours.... this is a big favor for him.

Going to eat something... have to wash my hair as there was a big bunch of dried "cow" in it and all over the back of the sweatshirt... they are on green grass so very "loose"... got splattered; then go to bed.
