How abot naan bread. It is supposed to be unleavened.

OTH, at least he is getting on the ball about getting stuff done instead of letting things slide for weeks and then complaining about the results. Sounds like GF is trying tobe more helpful so that s better too. Gotta look on the bright side and not stress.

Actually, sounds like maybe he is realizing that he has been dumping on you for too long and now is trying to make things easier. As long as he is getting more done in a timely fashion, and easing your burden, I would take it. Nothing wrong with sucking up to your mother occasionally! If GF continues to be an asset and not send him into a tailspin by dumping him every few months, he'll be easier and more pleasant to work with. :fl :hugs
Most Naan is made with yogurt, check the ingredients. 😢

Saturday and in for a drink and some pills... back is not liking the last 5 hours.

56 overnight. I got up at 3:15, before the alarm... then finally got up and got dressed and left...got to the farm at 4:45. We started milking at 5, done at 7:30, did the computer work and then spent a little time looking at the pictures of the "work in progress" on the conversion of the free stall barn to the robot milking barn. Adding on to one end, redoing the whole inside... they are making very good progress because the weather is co-operating so much with no rain, etc... They plan to be in it milking by Oct... it might be done before then, but the farmer said the plans were to move the cows in after they finish all the harvesting of corn/silage/hay this fall... It makes sense. I probably have 4-5 more months of testing them...

Came home and stopped at Deb's because I forgot to unplug the heater in the tack room. Even if we have some nights in the 30's the water isn't going to freeze.

Got home, watered the chicks... brought the samples inside. Got the wheeled weed eater out of the shed and brought the batteries in to charge.. there were 2 in it... so hopefully I do have 2 of the 4 amp and 6 of the 8 amp batteries...
Moved some of the pots around on the lawn so I can get in to weed eat the grass that has grown up. I am thinking I am going to put some mulch down where that bush used to be, that Buck cut all down a couple weeks ago... and put the plants in pots on there for now... He also took down the rose of sharon that was being strangled out by some other weed tree... it was growing all up through it and not pretty or anything. There are 2 nice rose of sharon bushes out nearer the garden, along with the dogwood that Deb had cut all the trash brush and another garbage tree away from a couple years ago... it looks so much better since it was cleaned up around it. I want to put some wood chip mulch around it too; makes mowing easier and not have to weed eat right up to it.

I have a couple bags of "soil" from last year that I am going to put into some of the containers, and then can transplant some of the mint into them separately. I just can't go at it very long and my back hurts and I get so out of breath. That is really been a B#@%& to deal with... not having the stamina/"wind" to do things.

Came out of the dairy this morning and must be some sort of pollen, as I suddenly started having an awful time with coughing and nose running and not being able to breathe... I was okay when I went to work and in the barn.. and I nothing I ate last night was "different".. The breeze had come up and boy did it get me... have no idea what it was... didn't smell anything different, sometimes I do and know it will affect me... but this AGS has got my whole system in an uproar.

Time to go back out and see what else I can get done... The rain/clouds are supposed to come in early afternoon. It is getting a little hazy out there now.
I put another gallon of tea out to steep when I got home...
Gotta go and get a few more things done and go feed the calves at the barn before it rains...

Just as I was going out the door, get a text that Deb's BIL was going to be at her farm to get the VW Jetta. It was her husbands' then she drove it some... and there were some issues... She had a mechanic look at it, cost was going to be a fair amount... can't remember what all it was... DS had looked at the mechanic's estimate, and said what all had to be done it was fair. It is more labor and time to get it apart and do whatever... So it has sat at the farm for 2-3 years now. She had another car and the pickup that they used to pull the horse trailers... Her BIL was going to take it to his mechanic, and see if they could do what needed doing and get it going and sell it... or something.
SO DS had texted me to see if I could go help BIL since it was going to have to be pulled on trailer with the ratchet come along... I got there and we decided that I could pull it with my big truck... so I came back and got the big truck and went back... Alot of back and forth, he cannot back his truck/pull behind U-Haul trailer... but we got it situated... Got it up on finally, almost all the way... I was moving my truck and as I straightened out the wheel to back in at a different angle... Felt a clunk and truck dipped and the front WHEEL came off... literally dropped on the ground... Broke 1 lug bolt and bent 2 others.. so could not even jack it back up to get it back on... Found 4 lug nuts ... but have NO IDEA, what all caused that... I drove it to go get the cornish chickens a week ago... never felt anything wrong, or wobbly or anything... I check for flat tires and such.... but since I drive it very little, mostly around here close, I never check the lug nuts regularly I mean, really....... All 8 on the same front wheel?????
So we used the come along to get car snugged up to get those straps on the front tires... and then he dropped me off at my house on his way since it was right down the road on his way home... But that was over 2 hours of time I didn't anticipate "losing"... Not that I begrudge doing something to help Deb in some way... Just NOT planned...

Can't do anything about it, til DS comes home... so I got in the forester and went to check for new calves, and feed the "escapee calves" in the creep area... and I get a phone call... DS.... Not hi or anything, but the wheel came off your truck????? I said yeah, how did you find out... he said he called Charles back to see if I had been able to go help him... so I guess he said that yeah, I had come with the truck and we pulled it up and then the wheel came off my truck. He asked me a couple questions, like didn't I notice anything funny when I was driving it... etc, and I said no... and there was no point in calling him about it since he was gone and wasn't going to be able to do anything about it until he got back home... Like I am going to "cry, woe is me" ???? For what...
It couldn't have happened in a better place... could have been going down the road at 65 mph and wrecked it....
BUT one more thing in the list of things that need to get done and the list he can't seem to do just gets longer... because he is gone, again....

So, I checked and no new babies, fed the calves... We were getting a few sprinkles and sky was cloudy. HOPING....for some real rain..... came back home... nothing even in the rain gauge.

I went in and did the putty on all but 2 of the panes of glass...in the second window sash..... didn't have the small nails (brads, mom called them) to fix the end ... I did glue that part back together... another "mortise and tenon joint on the end, and want to put a couple small nails in to give it a little more holding power....... The other window still is not dry/hard yet... Tomorrow I want to get that window fixed and the last 2 panes of glass puttied so they can dry.... It takes a long while...
I then decided to work on putting the pen back together that I glued the couple joints together after the wind took it down several months ago... ... BUT there is a broken piece and it is right at the joint where an upright fits into the top piece... top piece is broken so it wants to "fold".... like a T but the upright is like mortise and tenon joint... So. I glued it and need to put a flat piece of steel to brace it across... I have a dozen L shape bracket reinforcing pieces but none straight... and it needs a straight piece that is a little long to reach far enough across to give it rigidity...Probably do both sides so it holds.
So, all the other sides are screwed together and braced with some 2x2's to just give it some strength... I will get the metal reinforcing pieces to screw on it tomorrow... and get it up to hold the shape...it is the last of the "side pieces" . OF COURSE, the treated 2x6's haven't been put under these pens....
Or the other chicken house and pen brought home.....

I have to get the 2 pieces from Deb for the 2 roof sections to replace the rotten ones... I can use the other roof sections as a guide to try to make them myself... but I think she had them about 1/2 done before she started having alot of trouble and then got diagnosed and her life changed...needed to be grooved to fit the "wavy" roof material... like a piece of roofing tin, just they are plastic , not metal...

At that point, I also got out some of the vinyl that I had ordered from the Marine Vinyl place... the "irregular end pieces... and rolled the 3 pieces that are for the sides (54 x108 inches average) onto the "tube" from the first order I got...and had already used those pieces....kept the tube ... for something I might need it for... and got to the 2 bigger "irregular" pieces that I got...They are 72 x 72 minimum.... I had ordered 1 in the 30 gauge and 1 in the 40 gauge... I took the 30 gauge piece and got it up on top of the pen where I put the cornish hens...and it is 72x probably 80 or more... it is longer on the sides than the last piece...... so they didn't get soaked since it is a small single section roof, and no sides, so the water and wind could blow in.. This at least gives them more room to sit under , so that the rain is not coming straight down....

OH... That is why it didn't rain... I was fixing things to make it better for the chickens if it rained... Now that I did that , it decided to laugh at me and not rain..... :barnie :barnie :duc:duc:th:th:th

We did not get enough to even get you wet... it broke up and sorta reformed over on the other side of the Blue Ridge mountains headed east... I mean not enough to even settle the dust... I never used the windshield wipers on the car....

Also, Sam came by so we went back to Deb's so he could look at what needs mowing... going to get it done this week... and then go from there... He said $125... he could do it every 2 or 3 weeks if it is real dry... but he needs to get in there and do it and see what all it will be like... you know, new place, learn all the low spots and stuff... I don't think there are any rocks... I told him to go on and do it... I would pay him this first time, and then if she comes out... she can see if there is anything else she wants him to do... I did not tell him to do any weed eating except around the walkway to the doors....
DS uses the arena as a barn/storage shed... and we get the hay ... DS fertilizes it... and now she will never use the barns for horses or anything again... so it is not going to hurt me to pay Sam for this time and then it will be done if she does come out in the next week or 2.... It's close... it is going to take him a couple hours probably... especially this first time as it is higher and weedy... hasn't been done yet this year...

Then I came back and moved some of the pots of plants and used up 2 batteries in my little weed eater... around the front step, along the side where the back deck starts... They don't last very long with the real high grass... I got one back on charge.. one fully charged in it, and one to be charged... I have 4 but one of them lasted all of 3-5 minutes...so I think it is going bad. I would have used up the 3rd battery but by then my back was really aching... I quit. It was after 7 anyway...
I need to get the rake out and get all the leaves and stuff raked out... make it look neater.... have some pansies I got for next to nothing and some other flowers... Lowes and Walmart closeout stuff... It is early to have these bargains... but I'll take them... Want to get them planted... thought we might get enough rain to soften the ground a little... but NOPE....

I am going to empty some of the planters of the soil that is in them, into the cart and haul out to the garden to just mix in there... Put fresh soil in the planters and get them ready. I also see some pansies have come up from seeds from last years plants, I guess... so might get them rearranged into one or 2 planters....
Maybe get a couple of planters of mint so they don't take over everything... Think I will pick the mint I don't get transplanted out of the lawn and maybe dry it??? Dehydrator maybe??? Never dried it... but hey, why waste it... could freeze it but don't know if it would thaw out good or be mushy. Dehydrator ought to dry it, right????

Guess I will be able to use the mower tractor and cart tomorrow since it isn't wet out... get some of these planters done up...
Then hoping that it isn't too hot... or anything... and see if I can work on getting some of the stuff cleared out to get the netting up...
Since I am on a "do stuff outside" kick, need to take advantage of it... work at it... yeah I am jumping back and forth to stuff... partly to break up the strain on the backache.... so do some of "this", switch to some of "that".... then something else...

The nicest thing is that it's not so hot as the 80's + were... and the clouds/partial cloudy skies makes it alot more comfortable.

Found some pieces for the hose but they are metal... would rather the plastic because of the water corroding them... so will look for them tomorrow when I go get the flat metal reinforcing bracket... I will take the samples to UPS also, they are open Sunday aft since we have the vet coming Monday and I guess she did not change her appt so it will be just him and me... and only 1 bunch of cows....
Take the piece of electric cord I cut to get the right ends to fix the longer pieces here...
Go by and see if I can get some grapes and bananas on my way by too... everything is right there next to each other... Lowes, Walmart, and the UPS store in the strip "mall" next to Walmart...

The leghorn hen definitely wants to set and she is getting picked on and her head is all bloody. So tomorrow she gets moved into the other "dog crate" I have... hope she will stay broody... but we will see. She is going to need to have some time to heal up... Don't know who is doing it... there are 2 other hens in there... Doesn't seem to be the rooster... Poor thing...
Langshan is sticking to her nest... I can candle them for the first time in a day or 2... they will be a week on Monday... plus the ones in the incubator too.

Couple more things; didn't want to "lose that post" like I have done in the past... NOT going to retype it...

@fuzzi asked about what do I do for a brooder... I use a cardboard box... screening across the top...light.... change the box out or change the paper and shavings... DS has all the brooders at his house, but I will never see them... they are in his shed, and all sorts of stuff piled in front of them and it is not a priority to do anything to help make things easier for me... Waiting to see how long it takes him to remember I wanted the incubator... after asking for it 2 or 3 times..
My new incubator seems to be doing fine... that I bought last year... and never used... Guess we will see how good it is doing when I candle the first eggs.

The 5 bantam chicks i had gotten, cheap from TSC, are a trio of Porcelain D'Uccles, and 2 golden Sebright females I think...the porcelain rooster has alot more comb than the other 2... one has a "beard(muff), the other 2 do not... The Sebrights are harder since they are feathered the same... but no combs showing...

Want to see if I can get some NH bantam eggs from the guy that lives down nearer to Gilman's... If not, then I will get some when I go to Columbus, Ohio this year... and I plan on going... just to find chickens I want...and I will buy some NH bantams this fall.... because it is so big, you get to see some you may never see anywhere else...

Okay, I am going to bed. Been up 21 hours... I ought to sleep good tonight !!!

Sunday morning... It is foggy, and cooler... 48 for the low. I mean real foggy out there... can see some but not across the road and into the field very clearly.
Why can't this be actual RAIN that we need soooo desperately. Sure the fog will add some dampness... but not much moisture.
Forecast says it will clear off and be clouds and partly sunny. Next possibility of precip is Tues/Wed... and they are saying showers, not real "rain"...

I am going in to make some breakfast... eggs of course... English muffin I guess... Oh yeah, that reminds me, @fuzzi also mentioned she likes honey on her english muffin... I find honey just too sweet except when mixed into something... the apple butter does not have sugar in it so not as sweet. I don't like honey just on something... I do like it IN something like cream of wheat cereal, or oatmeal, and stuff I can mix it in. And I use it very sparingly. I don't do alot of real sweet stuff.... sure I like some but not overwhelmingly sweet. But that is strictly one of those to each his own personal preferences type things.

Not in a rush to go outside to do anything in the yard, since it is damp from the fog... I will eat and then probably head down to Lowes, get the things on the list, and Walmart for some groc while right there, and then drop the samples at UPS. This way I won't forget them. We will be busy Monday with getting things ready for the vet, getting Maggie moved to the barn for the vet to look at her foot, other stuff... I did notice she is walking better since out on the grass pasture, but still has a peculiar way of putting her foot down...

Maybe by the time I get back the fog will have lifted some.. I can do chickens and all... get the crate set up for the leghorn hen... might have to wait for tonight to move her since they are not very "handleable".... get her when she is setting in the dark.
Put the plate on that piece for the poultry pen, and get the rest of the pen screwed together...

Lots on the list to keep plugging along on !!!!!
