Ok so Tinkerbelle is finally bred, planning ahead here, not sure for another couple weeks if it "took". She is 22 mos, a small Jersey/HolsteinX, about the size of a small Jersey. She has been on a small pasture and mixed grass hay all summer. Looking good so I haven't grained her (can't see her ribs). Pasture running out soon with fall coming. If she is pregnant, should I be starting to give her a dairy grain? How much, and how much should I increase grain (and hay) as the pregnancy develops?

You only need to start giving her a dairy grain when she's getting into her third trimester. You will have to back off the feed around 10 days before she her projected due date so that she doesn't go down with milk fever.

Is that for all food, including the hay, or just the dairy feed?

I have a Jersey due on Jan. 9th, and this is our first baby cow. I have never had a pregnant cow, so this is all new to me.
