Hello all, I am new here, lost where to start but I have a question.

I have 4 goats, bottle babies saanen goats, they are still bottle fed, almost done w/weaning. They eat hay and feed. We recently just got 2 Jacob sheep. I have separate feed for both because the sheep can not eat the feed I have because of the copper in it. My question is, is there a good universal food both can eat without separating them for long periods of time? Also, do they sell supplements for copper to administer to goats liquid or edible snack type food, so they get their share of copper needed to stay healthy.

Thank you in advance!

PS.. so much great info glad I have found this site!

You can give copper boluses to the goats but they still need a good goat mineral daily. It would be best if you could feed them separately. Maybe house them at night in their own areas so the goats can get the copper they need. Especially if these are going to be milking goats, it is really important to get the proper feed and mineral.

Thanks for the response! They are housed at night separately, and at night they go in and feed on the food that I have been feeding them, I was just thinking for the day since they roam the yard together and not have to worry about them dipping into each others foods during the day. Would nightly feeding be enough to supplement healthy eating w/copper?

Thanks again :)
